The new small-town crime thread

Due to request from sharpe, I'm bringing back my small town newspaper's crime reports, which feature some very light complaints.

Here's some of the new batch from late last month, and this month. More will be added moving forward.

10:09 p.m. -- A 30-year-old Homer Township man reported getting suspicious text messages from an unknown subject. There are currently no suspects, and the man blocked the phone number.

1:51 p.m. -- A deputy was dispatched to an Ingersoll Township residence to speak with a 59-year-old woman regarding a civil complaint. The woman was upset her 30-year-old son had withdrawn and spent $500 from his savings account. The 59-year-old said he was acting irresponsibly. The deputy informed the woman that this was not a crime.

10:11 p.m. -- A deputy responded to the Village of Sanford in reference to a suspicious situation. The deputy made contact with a 55-year-old Lee Township woman who reported that her car had a flat tire while she was at work. She was not sure if the tire had been punctured maliciously or not, but she wanted the event documented.

12:05 a.m. -- A deputy was dispatched to a Mount Haley Township residence for a request from an 81-year-old woman to have her late husband's medications disposed of. The deputy picked up the unused medication and properly discarded it at the Law Enforcement Center.

In Calgary there were these cards that came out on Valentine's day, inappropriately named,
VALENCRIMES DAY CARDS which pictured real people from the area that local law enforcement are looking for, for various reasons.

For example, without using real names
Wanted, Susan for a CELL-fie for jumping bail.

I know it sounds funny, but these are people being showcased by local law enforcement that need help, not to be front row and center and poked fun of. Most havent even been convicted yet.
I would post some pics but dont want to be part of the problem.
https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/calgary-police-valencrimes-1.5465691 you can check some out there, or on Calgary police twitter account.

It's all funny but not funny, I wont judge anyone for commenting one way or another lol.

Points for creativity and humour. But not sure what they are trying to achieve here.

If pissing off a city then they achieved their goal but I dont think that was the plan. The newest Chief of police a few years now or more by my account has done a lot more good for the city and PD that I dont think he knew about this going out.
These did however gain everyone's attention to these people unlucky enough to be pictured on said Valencrimes day cards. So like them or not, no matter who put them out, they are doing exactly what a "wanted " poster is suppose to do.

1:19 p.m. -- A 77-year-old Midland Township woman was defrauded out of $549.49 after allowing someone to access her computer. A check for that amount was re-routed to an unknown location or account.

2:57 p.m. -- Deputies were dispatched to a Mills Township address after a 36-year-old man called for help. The man was paranoid from smoking marijuana and ingesting other drugs. The man was transported to MidMichigan Medical Center-Midland by EMS prior to the police's arrival.

10:24 p.m. -- Deputies were dispatched to a Lincoln Township residence in reference to a vehicle stuck in the driveway. The passenger, a 34-year-old Bay City man, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine.

I'm pretty sure that had to have been the case. That place is way out in the boonies... I can't imagine it'd be any other way.

Wow...I wonder if those are linked or separated events... which would be quite stupid really, has to be the first mentioned...otherwise I'm just as stupid as this guy..even without any methamphetamine😀

Yeah you don't call the cops to get you unstuck if you're packing dope in your car. This is rookie level dumb.

Okay that's a pretty good list of crimes. Our local newspaper has been working to make it so you have to subscribe to read anything online, so I've had a hard time getting our crime reports.

That said, here's the latest batch:

9:47 p.m. - A deputy was sent to a Homer Township home for a report of a possible larceny. Contact was made with the female complainant, who said her ex-boyfriend possibly took medication and some video game equipment for her. The game equipment was bought jointly, and she was advised how to resolve the matter civilly. Contact was made with the ex-boyfriend, who said he moved her medication but did not take it. Both parties stated there was a verbal argument that day, but no assault.

3:12 p.m. - A 56-year-old Lincoln Township man reported that his dogs continuously run off. The man believes his neighbors are messing with him by calling his dogs into the woods. The man never saw anyone in the area or heard anyone calling his dogs, but plans on setting up some video cameras on the property.

3:10 a.m. - A deputy was dispatched to a Jerome Township residence in reference a suspicious noise the complainant heard just outside their residence. The deputy arrived on-scene and located numerous rabbits feeding on plants just outside the house. It is suspected the animals were making the noise heard by the complainant.

What's with this " witch " dragging a cop behind a car? Does this cop not have any training to let a woman ragdoll them and drag them around. Male or female cops alike should have more then enough training to prevent this sort of thing from happening lol

So small time crime... some jerk broke into a bunch of cars in my neighborhood last night, mine included. They didn't get anything out of our van, but they did rifle through it. I got the footprint in the snow and notice that stuff had been gone through. Our neighbors all had their cars broken into, too. They covered multiple blocks in a single evening.

Grr. Makes me agitated!

Didn't anybody hear anything? For someone to cover that much ground and attempt to steal from so many vehicles, you think someone would have seen and/or heard something.
Blows my mind sometimes how people just spend an entire night doing things like this and never get caught lol

I don't think they've caught them yet. Still pretty crazy. I have a Ring doorbell and was considering getting a camera for my back yard in case someone tried to come through my yard. Definitely going to be putting one up now.
