Due to request from sharpe, I'm bringing back my small town newspaper's crime reports, which feature some very light complaints.

Here's some of the new batch from late last month, and this month. More will be added moving forward.

10:09 p.m. -- A 30-year-old Homer Township man reported getting suspicious text messages from an unknown subject. There are currently no suspects, and the man blocked the phone number.

1:51 p.m. -- A deputy was dispatched to an Ingersoll Township residence to speak with a 59-year-old woman regarding a civil complaint. The woman was upset her 30-year-old son had withdrawn and spent $500 from his savings account. The 59-year-old said he was acting irresponsibly. The deputy informed the woman that this was not a crime.

10:11 p.m. -- A deputy responded to the Village of Sanford in reference to a suspicious situation. The deputy made contact with a 55-year-old Lee Township woman who reported that her car had a flat tire while she was at work. She was not sure if the tire had been punctured maliciously or not, but she wanted the event documented.

12:05 a.m. -- A deputy was dispatched to a Mount Haley Township residence for a request from an 81-year-old woman to have her late husband's medications disposed of. The deputy picked up the unused medication and properly discarded it at the Law Enforcement Center.

7:26 p.m. — A Larkin Township family had a vehicle for sale in their yard. A 44-year-old Larkin Township man was interested in buying it. He believed one of the family members gave him permission to take the vehicle for a test drive and begin repairs. However, this family member was not home when the actual owner of the vehicle got home and realized the vehicle was gone. Their mother called 9-1-1 believing the vehicle was stolen. A deputy located the vehicle and confirmed the man was going to purchase it. This was communicated to the owner who was satisfied.

7:23 p.m. — Deputies responded to a Edenville Township residence for an unwanted brush pile in his private association. Deputies spoke with the complainant, a 59 year-old Mount Pleasant man, and told him he needs to bring his concerns up to his association, to figure out a way to get rid of their brush pile.

4:02 a.m. — A 37-year-old Lee Township man reported he heard what sounded like someone walking on the roof of his house. Upon the deputy's arrival, it appeared that someone had walked on the roof, but the homeowner said he also walked on the roof checking for any damage. The deputy checked the area and did not locate any suspects.

Ha-ha..obviously not a happy ending to that and the bush burning story... 🙂

But the id thief story sounds quite serious...can't believe what these people can think of just to stole your identity..a whole thriller script there.

I had my identity stolen several years back, an officer called me and told me they pulled over a man that had a SIN card with his name but my SIN number on it, his drivers license was all his info, but it was my drivers license number, he had a book of blank cheques all with my name on them.
For a couple years following this call, I had a bitch of a time doing any kind of dealings with the govt the credit bureau of any kind. They would ask me questions about my life, where I lived, at what time and I didnt have the answers they had so they would end the call for security reasons lol To this day the only financial damage done to me was a cell phone bill for 400$ in collections from a company I've never dealt with with an address to a city I've never lived in.
For awhile there was some fear that a car loan was taken out in my name as well as a mortgage for a newer home.
Scary stuff, and to think this stuff was all happening in my name for months before I even new anything about it.

Obviously you've been in some really serious troubles because of this Kris, but in the end it's good that you've only had to pay that expensive phone bill.. 👍

Any idea of how they've been stolen your personal info anyway?

I've had my ID/card info stolen a few times, and it SUCKS. Most recently I had someone swipe my card and buy 900 bucks worth of tickets to a theme park in Dubai.

And I can tell you that the collections companies suck as well. I had closed a bank account and gotten a note that the balance was 0 with no transactions pending on it. A couple months later I get a letter from the bank telling me that I owed them more than $1,000! They said that a $6 charge from some gas station came through, which overdrafted the account. They charged a $30 per day fee for over a month before they stopped it.

Needless to say, I refused to pay and the collections company took me to court. I countersued them and provided the note that I had saying I was zeroed out and the account was closed. I actually ended up winning, and I left the court feeling like a god, as I beat some jerk that went to law school for a long time! 🙂

His name was Muhamed Muhamed, the police pulled him over and ran his license. Instead of this black mans face coming up on their screens, it was my face lol . So they arrested him right there and tracked me down. That's when I was informed of everything.

But I still haven't paid that collection bill for the phone. I refuse too lol

I wonder how long this elderly couple have had the dog??!! 🙄😂

It always annoys me when I find 🐶💩on the nature strip outside my house (and no I don't have a
dog! 😂). This article has made me think that perhaps these dog owners aren't lazy and irresponsible, they're just fools who don't realise that their dogs actually SHIT and therefore don't realise they should pick the 💩💩up so people don't inadvertently step on it!! 🤬😡🤯

Yeah I'm completely agree with your dog owners conclusion there klaw...of course not saying they are all like that but it's pretty much the same as you described it here as well.

But what an valuable emoji that💩 proved to be...it could save you whole sentences sometimes😉

Oh dear, this scam is being used the world over it seems. There are signs up at Post Offices here warning people of that same scam. It's terrible that people fall for this.....why on earth would the Tax Office ask you to pay your tax liability in gift cards?!?!

I thought that one about the marijuana plants was going to end with the woman being arrested after calling the police for help. That's the sort of thing I have come to expect from these reports! Is that legal to grow in your neck of the woods slim?

We voted to legalize marijuana in Michigan last fall during our elections. We've had medical for a while now, but recreational is now legal. We're even getting shops to buy the stuff within the next year.

Federally, it's still illegal, but the PASPA Supreme Court ruling regarding sportsbetting comes into play here. The decision dictated that states don't have to help enforce a federal law if they make the activity legal within their borders. Because weed is legal here now, the state wouldn't have to help any agency with investigations or supply officers to help with busts. Needless to say, the feds don't have the resources to go after it, so it's all good here now.

It was my initial thought either but then I thought you can't be that stupid calling the police if in fact the possession is illegal...but the Slim's explanation make it clear then.

So congrats Dustin.. 😛...you've legalized the joint but not sportsbetting...where's the logic!?!😉
