88th Academy Awards 2016 - How Many Have You Seen.....so far?

10 replies • Last post

Hello CL-Friends and/or Movie Buffs like me!

We are only a little more than ONE WEEK away from the Academy Awards show, once again, and it is time to start thinking about predicting our winners. Hoping to see the famous CL-Ed Oscar thread up soon - sometime this weekend?

If you are not a huge movie buff, just start doing a little research. Your guess might be as good as the next person, and who could not use a few more CL-Chips?

So, how many of the movies have you watched?

I just figured out I have seen ALL the nominated Best Picture movies except Brooklyn and Room. I also have a few to watch that are not under the Best Picture category, but in the Best Actress and Best Actor categories, including Best Supporting Actor and Actress categories.

I also SO enjoy going to my favorite Oscar site this time of year and watching the trailers to the short films, such as those nominated for Best Documentary, Best Short Documentary, Best Animated and Animated Short, and so on.

If you would like to watch trailers to all of the above, and more, just visit:

I hope to see lots of participants - let's have some fun and competition this year, CL-Friends! Smile

For some reason, I never bother with any or all tof he MANY MANY other awards shows, not even the Gammy's anymore, and I LOVE music. But this one is always an event for me and some of my family. Smile

I have just seen Mad Max Fury Road. I've been really wanting to watch The Revenant but unfortunately time and other responsibilities have kept me from watching it. Sad woe to me who is very busy and can't afford to watch movies even during weekends.

I do hope Leonardo gets his well-deserved Oscar this time around.

Just letting you guys know that we will indeed be having our Oscars prediction competition once again this year. I need to compile a list of all the categories and should have something up later today.

I have only seen The Martian out of that list, but I really dug it. I'm debating buying it in 4K, which is the same debate I am having about pre-ordering the Star Wars movie.

Everything I have read says that The Revenant is nearly a sure thing. Thoughts?

I have read The Martian but not yet sen the movie. Actually I haven't seen any of the nominate best picture films. The Revenant looks like your archetypal American great outdoors, Dance With Wolves style adventure story that the critics seem to love.

Not seen any of those just yet, use to watch a lot more movies some years ago but not any more. I don't think most of the new ones worth the time but obviously this year selection seems to have some promising titles I think.

The Big Short was my favorite movie on that list. I think there's something to be gained from watching it (which is more than I feel after watching most movies) AND it was wonderfully acted. There's a deleted scene with Christian Bale that's really powerful/ emotional if you haven't seen it yet

Betty, thanks for that tip - I will definitely try to find that. Do you have a link?

This is the first year in many years, where I am not feeling confident. At first, The Big Short was a shoo-in, then they said Spotlight, now suddenly The Revenant is in the running. Not feeling well today, but time to continue my research and get my picks in. Smile

Good luck evereyone! Smile
