Fear The Walking Dead - Sunday Night 8/23!

14 replies • Last post

Hi CL-Friends,

Do you plan to watch?

I am definitely going to give this one a try. I especially like that Kim Dickens (of Deadwood and Treme) is the female lead.

The trailer looks awesome, and now AMC has released the first three minutes of the first episode. I haven't viewed that yet, and I am not sure if I will, but I will definitely be tuning in on Sunday night!

Anyone else doing to give this one a try? Walking Dead fans?

What is it? A spin off series? I haven't watched TWD for ages. I'm probably a couple of seasons behind. Last I saw the governor had escaped and killed a bunch of people who were supposed to be with him after they realised what a psycho he was.

Yes, you are behind. lol And this season of TWD is supposed to be great, too - that remains to be seen.

This new show is a spin off of TWD, Same creators, including Kirkman, but a different perspective of the zombie apocalypse. This time we get to see the events actually unfold, and in a different part of the world - Los Angeles, California. Whereas TWD began with Rick waking up in the hospital with the zombie apocalypse in action, we will see what happened in the very beginning.

There may be some crossover in the future, too.

I have my TiVo set to record the whole season! I can't wait! Actually seeing the apocalypse unfold is the most attractive parts of these shows to me, and I am so happy that they are doing this in The Walking Dead universe.

As for Ed, you need to catch up. Things have gotten insane and there's some really disturbing stuff going on not related to the zombies.

I've always thought that the zombies were in some ways some of the least disturbing stuff in that show. And I'm pretty sure the creators intended that to be the case. The zombies are just an excuse to show the people at their worst.

Some are saying the new show started off too slow and the show is suffering from the same flaws in TWD such as people acting stupid, lol, and lack of intelligent dialogue, but I actually like the first episode. Some say they have no interest in finding out how it all began, because they are already so far into it on the other show, but I find it fun. I hope it survives long enough for us to see some crossover between the two shows I am also a HUGE Kim Dickens fan - loved her in Deadwood in Treme, so I like that she is the female lead.

I never thought I would watch a show about Zombies, because I have never been afraid of Zombies and used to think they were stupid, lol, but I am so glad I gave the show a chance, because you guys are right: the zombies are not what the show is all about, but now I find them fun. But the real story is the people and their survival, and I do find that fascinating. In this next season it looks like the zombies are disintegrating. Some really gross zombies. lol

And for Nurse Jackie fans, I am THRILLED that Zoey, Merrit Weaver, our favorite resident nurse on Nurse Jackie, and a huge part of the reason I watched that show to the end, will be on the new season of TWD as Denise, a doctor who lives in Alexandria.

Were you one of the 10.1 million viewers of this record setting show? I can't count myself among them, since I stream it after it airs, but I did watch and enjoy.

I had it on my TiVo, and I was going to watch it, but had to end up going to bed early because my daughter had surgery on Monday. I am going to probably end up watching it tonight after my little ones head to bed.

I hope all is well with your daughter, 'Slim! Let me know what you think when you are able to watch The episode is a little over 60 minutes without commercials for the pilot. Kept my attention the entire time. I really like all the actors - no one too annoying yet . lol I am a huge Kim Dickens fan, and I didn't think I would like the male lead, because I did not like his acting in Gangland (TV show - I think that is what it was called?), but here is very different, and I like him in this show.

Keep us posted! Smile

Anyone watching? I am all caught up, and I am enjoying this new show very much. Let me know if you are watching.

They are REALLY hyping up this season of The Walking Dead which will return soon. My son listened to an interview with Andrew Lincoln (Rick Grimes), and Lincoln said every episode is going to be like a season finale and the season finale will be "off the rails." Hype or not remains to be seen, but the few previews I have watched makes me look forward to the return of The Walking Dead! Smile

You know, I haven't watched much since the first episode, although I have them all on my Tivo. I think these shows are great when you end up having some nice chilly fall weather, so maybe in the next week or so I will settle in with it... I am trying to chop limbs from trees before the rain and leaves falling begin!

Watching TV sounds like a lot more fun than chopping limbs. lol I was surprised to learn Season One of Fear The Walking Dead was only six episodes long. So it should not take much to binge watch this one! I have mixed feelings about the show, but I will watch when it returns.

My Ray Donavon and The Strain had their finales, and I am glad all three of these shows are over, because so many of my shows are coming back now! The Leftovers, Homeland (yes I am going to give another season a try), The Good Wife (still going strong and FRESH in its seventh season), The Knick (coming up soon and cannot wait!), and a few more I am not thinking of right now (exhausted, lol). After watching only part of an episode of American Horror Story Hotel, I have to say that Ryan Murphy finally turned me completely off to this show. And I am by no means a prude, but he is really getting ridiculous. I really only liked Season One of the show, and I kept watching for Jessica Lange. Now that Lady Gaga is on and Lange is off, I really have no reason to keep up watching this sick and demented show. lol

Anyway, let me know what you think if you end up watching Fear.

I'm about halfway through it right now. I am digging it, but find that it is frustrating seeing them making some dumb decisions! I mean sure they don't get what's really going on, but they seem SO DUMB!
