Apple Music

7 replies • Last post

I don't know if we have big music fans here, but I wanted to ask if anyone else had used the new Apple Music service through (you guessed it) Apple yet. I ended up getting the update and it came with a 3 month trial of their music streaming service, which is supposed to be like Spotify.

So far I have been a big fan of the service, and I even think we may keep it after the trial expires. I love that you have access to almost all of the iTunes store for a set price. I have been listening to music that I love but don't have the heart to actually purchase (Beastie Boys right now), and I was able to delete all the music off my device. I also am doing the Apple Share thing with my wife and daughter where the service is available for all of the devices in our family. This works well for my daughter as she can listen to all the garbage she likes, and the same can go for my wife.

Has anyone else used this yet? What are your thoughts?

I haven't as I have a Spotify subscription and I guess I am just used to playing that. Mrs CL-Ed has tried it out but the other day she was complaining that she couldn't choose an artist and just play their music and no-one else. Instead it spins up a list of somehow related tunes based on that artist or something. I don't know if that is because its a limitation of the free service?

Can you test something for me? Can you have 2 different people playing different music on different devices at the same time? That is the one thing that bugs me about Spotify. I pay for a subscription but it will only let me play on one device at a time. So I can be playing some music on my computer then my daughter gets the ipad and starts up a song and it cuts me off at my computer, even though we are in the same location using the same connection and IP address etc. That annoys me.

I can verify that you can have more than 2 people playing different music at a time, as you can sign up to six different devices for $15 a month.

I will say that there are some songs in certain collections I have seen where a song or two is missing. I don't know if this is due to different record label deals or something, but it has been the only hitch in the service I have seen, as I am even able to put the music offline or into playlists.

I give it an A- so far

That sounds very similar to Spotify apart from the fact that you can play to multiple devices at the same time. Tempting...

My son and I use Spotify He has the paid service, but I just use the free service so far. He has such a HUGE list of music there. I love a variety of music - but mainly listen to alternative stations.

I saw Nate Ruess from the band Fun, Weezer, and more in July, guys! Was AWESOME!

So I checked with Mrs CL-Ed and apparently I have no idea what I am talking about. She was referring to Apple Radio when saying she was not able to listen to the one artist for a long time, not Apple Music. So there. Carry on! Wink

My youngest son just bought an iPhone 6 plus, and he said he is doing the free trial for Apple Music. So far he really likes it Out of my three sons he has always been the one who wants the latest things and with all the "bells and whistles." He also has this awesome case that charges his phone.

So far he likes the service, though, and he will probably continue.
