2015 Academy Awards - How Many Movies Have You Watched?

6 replies • Last post

I am really slipping this year, friends! I have watched all Best Picture movies EXCEPT 1/2 of Selma and The Theory of Everything, and Whiplash.

For the last TWO years I had watched ALL the movies nominated for Best Picture PLUS those nominated for Best Actor and Best Actress that were not nominated for Best Picture.

I guess that's what working outside the home does to a person, lol. I really want to come back to my next life as a movie/TV critic, but until then, I guess I just have to be okay with watching what I was able to watch.

I haven't even studied up on my predictions this year (REALLY slipping!), and my sons and their GFs and I will print our ballots tomorrow night so I have to start choosing.

I have heard that Boyhood and Birdman both are front runners for Best Picture - have you heard anything else? I enjoyed both those movies - Birdman for the "quirkiness" and acting, and Boyhood mainly for the cool concept of filming as the young boy grew into a young man over a period of over eight (?) years.

So what movies on the Best Picture list have you seen so far? Do you have any favorites?

I really liked American Sniper, and ESPECIALLY liked The Imitation Game. I never cry at movies (or in general) and the ending of The Imitation Game hit me so hard I actually shed a few tears.

I apologize for not getting a contest going this year - hopefully we can start again next year, but until then, I would love to hear about what you watched and maybe some of your predictions for winners.

MISS YOU ALL SO MUCH!

Have a wonderful weekend!

I saw The Imitation Game on Saturday night. I really enjoyed it but I knew his story and what happened to him before I saw the movie so I wasn't really affected by the ending. I think Cumberbatch is a fantastic actor though not sure how accurate the film was. It is very good though.

Oh and we WILL be doing an Academy Awards competition again this year.

I've only seen 2 of the 8 nominations. I've seen The Grand Budapest Hotel and The Imitation Game. Both very good and very different films.

I'm with you Hope, had a bit of a sob at the end of the The Imitation Game. Just brings home how cruel humans can be to each other, especially those who are slightly different to 'normal' people.

But without having seen the other 6 I don't have any strong feelings for a particular film this year.

I actually don't think I have seen any of the films up for the Best Picture award yet this year. I really want to see American Sniper and Birdman, and may have to knock those off my list later this week.

Loved The Grand Budapest, and Birdman. I liked American Sniper, too - really well done. They are saying Birdman and Boyhood are front runners? At least last I read.

And, BTW, I got REALLY mixed up this year and I thought the awards were last Sunday, but that was the GRAMMYS, lol. So, YAY! There is still time for a contest. THANKS CL - ED. I will be back. Smile
