The 86th Annual Academy Awards: CL Ed (and all) LOOK HERE!

10 replies • Last post

The 86th Annual Academy Awards~!!!

I don't know how I missed the announcement this year (where have I been?), but we still have a little under one month (airs March 2) to go if we want to put in our picks!

Do you all want to do a CL pool again this year? I mean, it has become kind of a
tradition, right? I hope you all want to join in again. Each person puts in their
picks and gives 10 CL points to the winner.

How many of these movies have you seen? Early predictions?

I am WAY behind, and last year was the FIRST year ever where I saw all the
movies BEFORE the award show. I doubt that will happen this year, because I
will be spending time in Florida, but I will give it my best shot! lol

CL-Ed are you up for making us another thread this year?

Here is a good link with trailers and all:

I have seen American Hustle and Captain Phillips, and I am watching Nebraska
right now. I would have liked to have seen the Mandela movie up there, but oh well.

I am excited, as this is the one and only awards show I watch each year. Smile

Well I just finished Nebraska, and I HIGHLY recommend this movie. I know the academy doesn't seem to like Leonardo DiCaprio, and he always gets nominated without winning, but I could see Bruce Dern take the best actor award and be very happy. His work in Nebraska was incredible, as was Saturday Night Live's Will Forte's acting, AND June Squbb's acting. A truly amazing movie and story.

If you haven't watched the movies, you can still do your research online and read articles about suggested winners and different website's top picks, then go from there. It's fun even if you haven't seen the movies. You never know as the awards can be unpredictable, as we know. I hope CL Ed sees this SOON! Smile

Yes for sure! There is plenty of time left and it doesn't matter if you haven't seen all the movies.

I saw The Wolf of Wall Street the other night and its very good, and DiCaprio is excellent. It is 3 hours long but it doesn't get boring. You leave feeling disgusted with stock brokers though. Total scum.

Hi CL-Ed, and Thank you thank you thank you! You know I get so excited this time of year, lol!

I just finished the wolves of Wal lStreet also! Scorcese sure directs some crazy movies. What a wild ride! Jonah Hill was way too funny (but at times disgusting), and I wonder if Leo will EVER get his Oscar (he is known for being snubbed by the Academy). He really put his all into that role. I read the movie is based on a true story, but I venture to say it was very loosely based, but well done.

Well I am off to watch Philomena! Smile

CL-Ed can you put the thread up? You did such a nice job the last few years. I couldn't find the old one to use as a kind of template, plus i wanted to wait to hear from you. The sooner the better. I have to get my picks in before I go to Florida on Monday. lol Smile
