Where IS Everyone?

13 replies • Last post

I really feel like I have to express my feelings here. I just cannot get over how much this place has slowed down, especially the forums. Almost ALL the forums, not just here in General Chat.

Many times something is posted and there is no response. That will make people want to stop posting and chatting. It is a vicious cycle, because if they see no one responding, they might not respond, then those waiting for responses may just give up.

Now please know I am not saying that EVERY SINGLE post must have a response, because I know people have the freedom to pick and choose, and they choose based upon their interests, time they have here, and so on. What I am saying, is that this place has slowed down more than I have seen since I first joined.

I have tried to think of friends I could invite, and I hope you all do the same. However, many of my friends are busy, some have no interest in online gaming, and so on.

I just worry about CL (AND CL-Ed, because you are not here NEAR as much as you used to be and then I start to worry). And I just had to express that.

Maybe this will help remind some of you to invite your friends to close to the greatest website on earth, lol

I miss the days of Savannah and Usne and many others stopping in and fun discussions and active posting. I miss our trivia game and other threads that have nearly died. I guess I just miss the ACTIVITY, and while it was never extreme, it was certainly never to the point of this OTHER extreme.

I don't know what the point of this post is. Maybe to remind people to try to participate a little more when you ARE here. Read some thread posts, read some articles (they are GREAT), and participate in the contests and mini-reviews: take advantage of the opportunities, the excellent advice, and the comradery.
Share with us what is going in your lives, post a cute something about your child, post some recent interesting news, or a funny video (remember the "make me smile" thread? It is probably locked now along with the "news" thread it has been so long) post a movie review or about a favorite TV show or song or band or talk about your most recent casino experiences: in other words, talk!

If you don't believe me, scroll through the threads and you will see what I mean. Many that used to be posted in, at least weekly, are now virtually buried.

I guess, in final reflection, I am posting because I simply do not want this vicious cycle to result in even fewer posts and fewer members. And I encourage you to spread the word about this wonderful place. Come one, come all! Smile

Hi Hope, I have invited friends and family to come here too. My sister did come here, but posted a couple of times and left. I didn't even know it was her until I asked later. I think they all have their other interests. My sister does enjoy gambling, but I think her life is so busy in other areas that she doesn't have time to come here.

This place has never been very busy since I've been here, but I do miss the few people who used to participate. I try to keep up with the threads, but I am pulled in so many different directions too. Being unwell on top of that limits the time I have to post.

I do enjoy the contests though. It gives me something to look forward to when I log in. I do wish other people would participate, but I think some people would rather play games than chat.

Glad you are here Hope. Smile

I too remember the forums having a lot of activity, with great members like Usne. I always thought there was a great group here and do enjoy talking about various topics on here.

I will try to post up a bit more on here, but just because I haven't posted doesn't mean I'm not lurking. Often times I often times don't have anything interesting to say. Smile

That's how I am in other groups Slim. I read a lot, but don't have much to say.

Yeah, that is my problem, too, lmao!

You do come up with lots of good topics, 'Slim. And I guess I wasn't talking about those of us who ARE here more often, but those who are no longer with us for whatever reason. Let's keep the conversations going and try to think of someone to invite here to join us. I have some potentials, but I don't want to invite those who truly do not have an interest in a forum like this.

I have a friend who loves the land casino so much she does not want to hear about the online casinos, and she especially does not want her hubby to find out about them. lol! She is always telling me not to say anything about them around him, lmbo! Wink Tongue

Lol, my friend said that too. Her husband liked to do online poker and she does NOT want him doing that again.

Thanks for a lovely post Hope, it's certainly food for thought. It is so nice to know that you care enough to write it.

I think there are a number of problems that many forums are facing. Definitely in the casino niche and particularly for us, the difficulty in playing online in the USA has meant that many of our older posters who were predominantly based in the USA have given up. There's a small bit of light at the end of that tunnel with New Jersey, Delaware and Nevada moving online so we have our fingers crossed on that front.

There's also the whole Facebook elephant lurking in the corner and I think that these days, people spend far more time interacting on social media at the expense of smaller forums like ours. We just have to accept that and deal with it, it's no use complaining!

In some ways, a forum like ours gets most use from people when they have a complaint about a casino or being ripped off. We have tried really hard over a number of years now to educate and give people the knowledge they need to make an informed decision, and hopefully choose a good casino that treats them right. If you find a good one and you're happy, there's no reason to go online and complain, so in that respect I think we're doing a good job.

I do agree that there is room for improvement. Perhaps we can do better at highlighting the conversations that are taking place. We list recent topics on every page but I think we have the general chat forums excluded from that and they tend to be busier than the casino focused stuff. This reply is a classic case - I hadn't seen this thread until now and its been here for the best part of 4 days. We'll see if we can work out how to showcase that a bit more so that the place feels more alive.

We try really hard to get people to post, for example we have CLchips which are awesome in my own humble opinion. We introduced the review bonus recently in the hope of getting some good feedback from new visitors and hopefully draw them in enough to want to stay. Do you guys think that it is obvious enough to lurkers what they are and how they can be earned? Could we do better in that respect?

Any other ideas?

I do remember when I first came to the site that there was something at maybe the top of the site that promoted that you were giving the iPod away.

I know that there is a blurb located down a bit on the main page right now... is there a way you could find a way to draw more attention to it?

There is a bar at the top of every page saying you can earn CLchips by posting in the forum. You don't see it if you have an account and are already logged in.

I completely agree about the Face Book thing! I used to go on a dachshund board/forum that I LOVED. I posted there quite often and ever since Otis was a puppy. Through the years, I watched the forum kind of die, and FB was the reason without a doubt. I now visit now and then, but it is really sad to me that the dachsie board is definitely NOT the same anymore. Sad

Ya know, I am racking my brain, and I cannot honestly say how I found this place, lol! I was SO grateful to win that iPod and I remember how I just couldn't believe a forum would be THAT generous. I rarely win anything, so that was so much fun! Smile But I still wonder how the heck I got here in the first place. lol!
