New Favorite Song: check it out!

13 replies • Last post

Well, I should say this is ONE of my new favorite songs, because I always have many, lol. This one is going on my iPod. I saw them perform this live on Jimmy Fallon last week, and I fell in love with the song. I have always liked the band.

Stubborn Love by The Lumineers

I've realized how much of an old man I've become, because I can't take a lot of new music, and I really don't like going outside my pre-set genres and songs I know, lol.

Good on you Hope for being able to keep adopting new favorites. ๐Ÿ™‚

Yeah, I have always had eclectic tastes in music. I love such a huge variety of music, and that crosses all genres and time periods. I don't care for a lot of opera (lol) or a lot of country (but I do like some), but I like all other genres of music a lot, including jazz, old rock, alternative, Idie, Blue Grass, and on and on and on. ๐Ÿ™‚

I love the cello in the above song, too, and I love bands with lots of instruments (Cake, Chicago, and more and jazz, of course)

I do believe three sons with different tastes in music has helped, plus them dragging me to clubs and concerts. The last concert they treated me to was Emily Wells and the Portland Cello Project, both very unique and a lot of fun. I guess I just love music!

Thanks for listening, 'Slim!

Here is another I love: Mumford and Sons. My middle son bought me the CD for my birthday. They just canceled three concerts on their tour, because the bassist had a blood clot on his brain. I guess he is doing really well and they plan to keep traveling and keeping their other engagements, but how scary!

I love the sound of their music Hope. I too love many different types of music. The music has to resonate with me though. I detest bluegrass Some country is ok, but not the ones with stupid lyrics.

This topic made me go back and find my favorite music videos on YouTube. I had a great time going back and watching them!

Isn't that enjoyable, 'Slim? I have a list of songs I want to add to my iPod, but I also like watching the music videos. Or sometimes I will have YouTube or even favorite artists on Pandora radio play in the background when doing other things online.

Its funny because my Pandora has learned so many of my music tastes that it almost mimics my iTunes playlist. Its almost creepy because it is so spot on.

I like live music videos and performances. I think I have noted before that my favorite band is the Foo Fighters, and they had a performance with Joan Jett on David Letterman.

I found it on YouTube and it can be seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sOH2dvQE6k4

OMGosh, 'Slim, that was fricking awesome! lol! And, no, I did not know you liked Foo Fighters or they are your favorite band. When you said old rock, I was thinking REALLY golden oldies, lol. But how cool is THAT? I love that Joan Jett joined them on stage, that was a fun performance by all! I love when bands/singers/artists get together like that.

I am just DYING to get to an outdoor concert this summer, but I don't know if it is going to happen. The Bascillica Block party is this week end and we used to go every single year. The past few it seems something prevents us from going. It is six bands each night for two nights and we used to just choose one night. I saw SO many bands and artists this way and tickets really are not that bad. It is a gorgeous catholic church in Minneapolis and they have this outdoor concert every year on the grounds of the Bascillica to raise money to keep up the beautiful restoration of the church. .You can also tour the church during concert hours if you want. There are two stages, three bands on each stage, with the Mpls skyline in the back. Oh, I miss it!

Here are two more by the same artist that I definitely crank up when they come on the radio. lol

While most rappers promote, well drugs, guns, hos and riches, jewels and furs, Macklemoore sings about going to the thrift store, lol. I told you I like music in all genres, lol.

Another song I LOVE by Macklemoore and Ryan Lewis called Same Love. This one makes me cry sometimes it is so beautiful:

Thrift Shop was pretty big here a while ago now. I love how he rips on everyone in that song.

They really are something else. They are known for putting on some awesome shows. An example? A year and a half ago they played a show in New Zealand and were so loud and got their fans into the show so much that they actually registered on a seismic level.
