Kickstarter, the new crack.

7 replies • Last post

Have you guys ever checked out Kickstarter before? It is a crowd funding site where people have these great ideas and try to get people to help fund their projects.

I myself am a sucker for the tech ends of it, but there are all sorts of things there.

I wish they offered gift cards so that they could be offered in the CL Shop.

Look at the site and tell me what your favorite project is. I want a 3D printer!

Do you have a URL/link to post? I know of a few of these types of places out there.

Yes, I got interested on this project, SOSCharger Self-Powered iPhone & Smart Phone Charger. It has already lots of pledge on it. I was about to join in the $25 pledge but it's all gone.

BTW, you send payments through Amazon..? Maybe we can use the Amazon gift cards then..

I have seen a few projects on there but I have never ponied up any cash. I figure I'll wait and see if they ever see the light of day first as there always seems to be enough people willing to put their money up.

This one was cool but Phillips has brought out something similar already so they have been beaten to market.

That light bulb is wicked, although I would have a very difficult time ponying up $80 for a single bulb. I would need upwards of ten of these things to make a sizable dent in my house, and that is just too dang expensive.

I myself think this one is great, but once again price is a killer: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/unchartedplay/soccket-the-energy-har...

The light bulb was neat. I liked the keychain thing that would hold six keys at once. I spent a lot of time there. I will have to go back sometime.

That soccket is a great idea. I'm betting I could break it pretty quick though. Soccer balls have to take a lot of punishment.
