Stupid Winter Weather!

26 replies • Last post

I HATE SNOW. I was taking the trash out a bit earlier, and slipped on some black ice. I fell flat on my back, hit my head on the cement, and somehow folded my wrist over in the process.

Now my back is screaming at me, my head is pounding, and my wrist is swollen.

I really need to hit a jackpot so I can move to Florida.

I hear you Slim. I don't like the snow either. Hope your injuries heal soon. Ouch!

OMGosh, I am SO sorry to hear this. I am right there with you, Slim. I would move in a heart beat if not for my family. Mom keeps talking about living in FL year round, but she also says she would miss her family too much. I cannot tell you how many times I have said I wish I moved when my boys were younger: ANYWHERE but here and ANYWHERE warm, so we would ALL be in a sunshiny state instead of here. Now the most I can hope for is being a snow bird like my mom, someday or winning enough to move us ALL together.

I hope you heal quickly. Take it easy and be VERY careful with every step you take and driving, too. I saw three accidents this morning, and the snow was two days ago now, but some people are still driving too fast for conditions. Traffic has just been INSANE all hours of the day.

I hate winter weather, snow, and ice, too! 😢

Get well soon!!!

'Slim, when my dad was still alive, and he and mom would call home from Florida, my dad would say, 'excuse me while I go open a window. It is getting hot in here," and similar things to rub in how much were enjoying their "winter" weather. Or they all go grab their sweaters when it is 60 degrees, because they are having a "cold spell."

Keep working on that big win, 'Slim, so you can move to a warmer climate or at least get out of PART of the winter.

I think the older I get, the warmer I want to be. I would love to move to someplace with sunshine every day.

Oh no! All this talk of blizzards and nasty weather has sent 6-12 inches of snow our way. I hope this is WRONG. There is no way I want to shovel this even with a snow blower. I'm still healing from the car accident. Yikes!

I think it is funny that the "Southerners" cannot really deal with the snow. I always see that they get an inch or two and cars are all over the road.

Interesting story: I had to work in the aftermath of a blizzard a couple of years back. Driving a crappy, light Dodge Caliber, I was able to traverse roads that had not been plowed for 18 miles. How did I do it? I got up to 55 MPH and just kept going. When I'd get loose, I'd let go of the steering wheel and let the car correct itself and then grab back real fast. That, coupled with my parking break somehow got me there. At one point I recall being completely out of control of my car for 5 seconds at full speed.

I'd like to see those Texas folk try that! 😂

Snow? What is this thing you call snow? Up here on the top half of the planet summer is in full swing and the ice cold beers are just waiting in the fridge.

🍺

Our 6-12 inches of snow turned out to be a light dusting. I'm going to tell the snow to go away more often to see if it works again.

Yes LM that is what I do. we did get some inclement weather Friday morning but now its just dreary and cold. I am sooo ready for my housing trip to AZ.
It has been unusually mild here in MI this year but I don't expect it to last much longer. 😢 :'( :'(

Very cold here too, but I did find myself getting out of the car today to take a photo of a pheasant. He hid though so no pic. As soon as I turned to head back to the car he made a noise as if he were sticking his tongue out at me and laughing because I couldn't find him!

That is karma for you. I made fun of all of you snow-bound wretches and then Christmas Day here turns out to be cold and rainy after being hot and sunny for about 2 weeks straight.

Ah well it is sunny again now and we're going for a short break to the beach for a few days with my family so I can't complain!

The beach! NOW I am jealous. My son and I were out driving to bring Otis to the oncologist earlier, and I was looking at the dark, dreary day, the clouds, the barren trees and all the brown everything, and I told him to imagine there are people walking around in Key West right now, on this very day, soaking in the sun, going to Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville and Mallory Square, and how it is just a completely different world. I would move somewhere warm in a heart beat if my entire family was not here, and especially my sons.

My middle son talks of moving to Portland, OR, and I told him, "you KNOW we will all follow you, right? " lol I can't imagine living so far away from any of my sons or I would be whooping it up somewhere in Florida right now. I have also always wanted to see the beautiful beaches of Australia, which is why I am still trying to win that big jackpot, lol!

Have fun!
