Food: What is your guilty pleasure?

12 replies • Last post

Hey CL Friends,

I was thinking it would be fun to share what our guilty pleasures are when it comes to foods and treats. Do you have those salty kind of cravings or do you have a big sweet tooth. Maybe BOTH?

What is that one treat that you know if you had it around all the time you would not stop eating? Or that treat you go out and buy just once in a while?

I love fancy coffees. and I call them my "adult Dairy Queens." lol I love the Caramel Coolers at Caribou coffee, especially in the summer., and I always order extra whip and extra caramel, because if I am going to do it, I do it right!

I have a terrible sweet tooth, not as much for salty stuff anymore (used to be). I love: any kind of cheesecake, Lemon Supreme Pie at Bakers Square, chocolate turtle candies that are homemade (they are SO good: trust me! lol) and I am also recently hooked on just plain M & Ms. If I had a dollar for each one I ate in the past few months, I could probably retire, lol.

I know I will think of more, but for now............................your turn to share! ๐Ÿ™‚

My tastes change over time. Recently, I have been loving Breyer's chocolate ice cream. I love the ice cream drumsticks too! i only rarely buy them. They are too tempting for me to keep in the house.

The drumsticks are awesome, lol. A little spendy, so definitely a treat. I like the ones with caramel in the middle. I LOVE caramel and too many sweet things, lol.

I also love the Luigi's Lemon Ice, especially in the summertime. I was lucky to find this at my local dollar store! ๐Ÿ™‚

You guys must of been reading my mind today as I thought it would be fun to share some recipes that are easy to make 5 ingredients or less. I have been hungry all day. Must be because of the cooler evenings here in the "winter wonderland" and one of my favorite little treats are pecan turtles at this candy shop we have here called Fabiano's. yummy and I love raspberry truffles from Godiva. ๐Ÿ˜‚
Another favorite is candy corn and now all the Halloween stuff is out, there are packages every where. I like the specialty ones that are caramel and chocolate flavored.

Hi luckywalker. If you search this General Chat session, there was a recipe thread started by Ubetcha a while back. I will try to find it and bump it, and we could also post some five ingredients or less recipes in that thread if you want. That is a great idea! ๐Ÿ™‚

OMGosh, that is crazy, because a friend just bought ME some pecan turtles with the REAL caramel and sweet cream and butter. This one is called CaneLake's Old Fashioned Home Made Candies and they DO have a website: just Google! I am going to order MORE for gifts, because I know my mom would just love them. They did not last long here, and I hogged most of the box, only sharing a few with my sons. lol They give a very generous amount, too. Sounds very similar to what you have there.

I like putting out bowls of candy corn mixed with peanuts this time of year. I wasn't huge on candy corn before that, but it tastes like a salted nut roll and the mix is addicting: yum!

Now I am truly craving sweets.

They now have Candy Corn M & Ms, can you believe that? My son bought me a package and they were okay but even VERY sweet for me. Now I might have to send my son out for treats. lol. I am so bad.

I love the candy corn but too sweet for me too. I'm finding that as I get older things taste way more sweet than I remember.

Ohhh I don't find things too sweet even as I age....the sweeter and richer the better. Another of my favorites are cashew clusters. I buy them @ fabianos too. Just like a turtle only with cashews....ummm so good and another one of my favorites is Key Lime pie in the frozen food section I think made by Edy's. those never last long with me. ๐Ÿ˜€

Speaking of adding peanuts to candies I also love those buttermints mixed with peanuts. Delightful

I am not a big sweets guy, so I love me some Hunter's Sausage. That stuff is like crack to me: I just can't stop!

My son makes something called Hickory Stick out of venison. You put liquid smoke in it and some kind of tenderizing salt( forget the name) and you have to leave it in frig for five days and stir it thru good once a day for the five days then bake it @ 200 degrees for 5 hours I think. The men-boys hunters here LOVE it. I don't eat it cuz I hate venison but they seem to enjoy.

Sounds REALLY good with cashews. Funny you posted about the Turtles when I just had some and they sound like the same thing.

I love Key Lime pie, too, esp. in the summer. So refreshing. I LOVE lemon and lime and anything sweet, but a little tart. I used to always make my own Key Lime pie, but I haven't made it for a couple of summers now. I will have to do that one of these days.
