Good-bye Hotmail? :(

9 replies • Last post

This is bumming me out. My Uncle emailed me today to inform me that Hotmail will be no more. I LOVE my Hotmail, and I have never cared for Gmail or Yahoo. Anyone use and email they like? I just hope it is a smooth transition for me, and I like the new one. I have to admit, when it comes to technology, I don't like change, and I get used to knowing what I know.

What do you all think? Anyone else use and like Hotmail?

I have never used Hotmail. I used Gmail a couple of times. I hope you find something that you like.

I have a hotmail account that must be 15 years old or so. I used to use it when I signed up to sites that I thought might spam me, basically any time I needed a "disposable" email address. Haven't used it in years though.

I have an old hotmail account like that and a Gmail account for the SPAM/Junk/Contest entries. That just got me to thinking, remember back when we would get warnings that our emails were full? And if someone emailed when our emails were full, the email would bounce back, so we would have to delete emails in order to continue to receive messages? lol It wasn't really that long ago, but I haven't thought of that for ages. I wonder when that changed, because the first hotmail address I speak of, above, has thousands of messages and still going strong, lol. I wonder what the capacity is now or is there no limit? Funny how that just popped into my head when reading your message. 🙂

Yeah I do remember that. But then Gmail came on the scene and gave everyone 1 gigabyte initially. Hotmail used to give you 10mb I think which is 100 times less. Now they both give you multiple gigabytes of storage.

I logged into my Hotmail account a few weeks ago after having not logged in for YEARS. I had something sick like 11,000 emails in my inbox.

To show how much better Gmail is, I had another account I used heavily back in the day. I logged into that one, and had 30 emails that were spam.

Interesting how much better Gmail does on spam. At least in my case.

i used to have a hotmail account like ten years ago... but then, i signed up for yahoo and use that email instead since i found out yahoo mail to be more user-friedly than hotmail... i'd never really like hotmail because back in the time i found the layout and whatsoever as very ugly (LOL)... recently, i signed up for microsoft live account... but still, i signed up using my yahoo mail instead as the user name... i think that i can never like hotmail as much as u do...

I guess it is whatever we prefer and individual tastes and all that. Also, what one is used to. I tried them all, and I still do like my hotmail the best. 🙂
