But I will definitely have to go somewhere warm.

What do you all think? LMBO! 😉

Sorry. I will try this again, and if it doesn't work, you will have to try to copy and paste.

I think that is dang good money for doing that type of job. Go for it! 🙂 We have panhandlers around here, especially downtown. The same people have the same corners. My boyfriend said people at work brag about how much money they make on the bus ride to work. To them, it's a game, it's a hustle. They think people are stupid who give them money. They laugh about how stupid people are.

Gee I thought you were serious until I read that. I don't believe he "earns" that much.

I saw a report by John Stossel where he dressed up as a bum in NYC and panhandled for a while. If I remember correctly he made:

$12 per hour
Which averaged to $480 per 40 hour week
Which averages to $24,960 per year
Which is TAX FREE

If you didn't have some sort of addiction like drinking or drugs, that wouldn't be bad. However, that is an average and not scientific. He may well have ended up with less (or MORE) if he kept it up.

Interesting, isn't it?

We see a lot of them in Minneapolis. I have heard people will fight and even kill over certain corners. I don't mind when I am in New Orleans or San Fran and they actually do something for the money like sing or play an instrument

I have given money to people before. Yes, I am a sucker. I figure whatever they do with it is on them, not me. I don't give away my life savings, lol, but I have given.

I appreciate the honesty of people like this:

Ha. I was coming out of a Tigers game about 7 years ago when a bum asked me for money, and laid out the old "I'm an ex-Green Beret" schtick on me. I told him I was sorry but I spent all my money at the ball game and kept walking. I got about two steps away when he sucker punched me in the back of my head!

The worst part of it was that there was a cop standing in the street and all he did was tell me "Keep on walking".

Gotta love Detroit.

OMGosh, that is insane. Punching you because you had no money? Nice. And so much for "serve and protect," huh? 😢 I bet it was tough to keep on walking!

I have given to people before too Hope. It just has to hit me the right way. If I feel the person is scamming then I won't give them anything. There are times I hate not giving anything either, because if they really are starving, I would feel bad about not helping them.

I have given to people also who play an instrument or whatever, but only if I feel I want to. We have offered food to people to before, but they turned it down. Can't blame them though....never know what's in food being given.

I just try to follow my conscience.

Not right for the guy to hit you in the head, and the cowardly cop........geez.

Hmm so the guy in the photo..

He wants skunk weed, beer, and cigarettes. Fine.
But AA batteries and holy water? Is he planning to fight vampires with a portable radio?

I think his holy water is the beer. lol Is skunk weed just weed? I have no idea really. Maybe the aa batteries are for his flashlight that he shines on his sign at night? 🙂

I wondered about that, too! I was just trying to find a "why lie I want beer" sign, but that was the only photo I could find on short notice, lol. Things that make us go hmmmmmm....... 😉 😜

Now I can't even find that same photo again, lol. I was going to try to see if I could read about it and find an explanation for any of it, lol.

Last time I was confronted by a bum,and one I knew just wanted drinking money,I said,"Nothing doing, fella.I'm working this side of the street. You go to the other one." He laughed like crazy and proceeded to cross the street and he said,"You go,Grandma."

I was in Minneapolis today, and I passed by a young man with a sign that said the following: "Embarrassed, but not too proud to ask for money for the bus to get to my job." or something like that, lol. I didn't see anyone throwing money out their windows for him.
