Any Guitar Players Out There?

8 replies • Last post

I had gotten my daughter (and myself) an electric guitar really cheap a while ago and we started doing this deal on my Playstation where you plug in your guitar and learn songs through the system.

The game is called Rocksmith and acts as an amp and teaching tool. I really like it as I am learning some cool songs; of course I am butchering them as I am still learning guitar. My daughter is pretty good at it though.

Do any of you play guitar? What songs are easy for a beginner to learn?

Sorry, I don't play but what a great thing to do with your daughter. I'm sure you will improve with practice.

That is one of the things on my "always wished I'd learned that" list, like surfing and martial arts. I'm working on the kung fu so maybe I'll get to those others in the future. I try to jam on my daughter's 4 string ukelele but all I make is noise.

You and me both Ed. You should see me play Nirvana through this game. It literally sounds like I am killing a cat.

Maybe I will film it and post it online.

When my son wanted to quit the school band, I told him ONLY if he replaced it with something else. He chose guitar. I paid for weekly lessons for him, and he fell in love with playing. He has written MANY songs, and he is very talented. I used to love to hear him play in the next room while I was falling asleep. He plays both electric and acoustic. I am so glad I invested in the lessons, because he loves it to this day.

I tried playing when I was younger, but I didn't get far. I played the trumpet and the piano, which I still miss. I had a very cheap guitar and it hurt my fingers to play, lol, but I still remember some of the chords.

Haha. My thoughts exactly. I must say I am much better at Song 2 by Blur and Icky Thump by the White Stripes.

I like those bands better anyway.

Let us know how it goes! 🙂 Thank goodness my son was actually good with the guitar. I used to LOVE when he would play at night, and I could hear him play (the acoustic, that is, lol) through the walls of our rooms, and it was so peaceful I would fall asleep. That, versus when my youngest was learning the trumpet and my guitar player learning the baritone. THAT is when I wished we had soundproof walls, lol, but they have to practice to learn, right? haha!
