Moving house sucks!

11 replies • Last post

I've been moving house this week, and man does it suck!

We're renovating our kitchen and bathroom so we have to move out for a while. We're only going a few blocks down the road but it seems like a never ending series of trips back and forth.

To make it worse we snapped a knob off our washing machine in the move so now I am hoping super glue can fix it otherwise we'll have to pay for someone to come and repair it.

Yikes! As someone who has moved WAY too many times, I can relate to this nightmare. I hate moving, so I am staying put until I can find a PERMANENT residence someday, even though I am putting up with a lot where I live.

Do you have any help or are you trying to do it all on your own? I always say I will not move again until I can afford to hire movers, but then when the time comes I am always too cheap, lol.

I hope you can repair the washer on your own. 😢

How long until you can move back into your home?

Good luck!

I hope the super glue works. Moving does suck. It'll be nice once you have things the way you like and you can be settled again.

I had a few friends help us with the big heavy stuff. My arm still isn't healed fully so I wasn't allowed to lift anything heavy which made it interesting. We should have the pleasure of doing it all again in a couple of months when we go back.

Can't wait. 😨

Anyway the super glue worked. We are saved! Only we are about 4 loads of washing behind now. I'm off to carry a couple of loads down to the laundromat or we'll never catch up again.

Oh, yeah! Of course you would have to get some help. I forgot about your arm for a minute there. That would make it interesting!

Glad the super glue worked!

If you want to fly me over, I will help you move back. I am the moving expert, after all, lol.

Will the improvements to your home make it all worthwhile? I hope so! 🙂

Good luck buddy. I hadn't seen this thread, but wish you the best of luck with everything.

Moving is a real stress bringer, and I know the feeling about not being able to help move your own stuff out... I had double hernia surgery like two weeks before my wife and I moved into our house. I got the joy of carrying things that were 20 pounds and less.

Hope it get smoother from here on out.

We moved somewhere real close which made it handy. But the downside is I am forever going back and forth between the two places grabbing stuff from our house that we forgot and taking stuff back that we realised we won't need or can't fit (its a small apartment we're in now).

Glad to hear you are in. Hopefully it won't be too long til you are back home. What's your time frame for your renovations?

It should take a few months in all. We've had guys here this week partially demolishing a couple of rooms. Its amazing to see how quickly two men can do it with only a few hand tools.

Have you ever seen the martial arts show where the guys demolish a house?

I found the episode on Only in America with Larry the Cable Guy Season 2 Episode 6. It starts at about the 18:00 minute mark. Five martial artists who are all world champions......I think is what it said.
