Gas Prices

17 replies • Last post

Geez oh man, I just went out to put some gas in my car and saw the price of gas had jumped up to $3.69 a gallon! I drive a Dodge Caliber which gets decent gas mileage so this isn't killing me, but I know someone with a pickup truck that will spend at least $80 to top it of.

I can't believe gas prices are so high already. I do know that our friends in other parts of the world already pay a higher price, but in Florida they are up to nearly $6 a gallon.

What kind of prices are you paying at the pump?

Around my area, the average gas price is 3.48 a gallon. I would love to own a hybrid car in the near future..

It was $4.08 in Chicago last week but that was downtown. The last time gas was so high, President O was going to investigate. I don't know what became of it, but gas prices did come down. I think a lot of people could not afford to drive anywhere either so the demand went down rapidly. People stopped going on vacation and stayed home.

I didn't even want to click on this topic, because gas prices are, once again, ridiculous. There is no reason for this, either! I have heard the last three years in a row that gas will be $5.00 per gallon by summer. It has never happened, but I would not be surprised if it happens this summer. I will be shocked! 😢 And just when people want to travel. it truly angers me!

My mom is in Florida right now, and she cannot believe it. In my area, Minneapolis, MN, the prices are $3.59 to $3.79 per gallon. Up in northern Minnesota prices are averaging $3.37. Prices took two big jumps, here, in the past two weeks. 😢

Oh yeah, and I remember when 20 bucks filled a tank of gas. Craziness!

According to Google:

1 US gallon = 3.78541178 litres

I pay around AUD $1.40 per litre. So that works out to be AUD $5.30 per gallon. Convert that at the current exchange rate and you get $5.60 per gallon.

I think you guys need to stop complaining!

It's all relative, CL-Ed. We are not used to paying what you pay in your country. Do prices fluctuate as much and as often as they do here or do they remain more stable? I would faint if I had to pay 5 dollars a gallon. Or buy a horse and buggy, lol.

I'm seriously thinking about getting a bicycle. I could use the exercise and I would love to save money. That would be locally though. I can't see driving a few hundred miles to visit relatives.

Many people get bicycles or even motorcycles or little mopeds. My dad used to drive a little moped to work and back and that saved my parents money, plus wear and tear on the car, and he loved that thing, lol!

My brother and his son got mopeds to drive back and forth to work. Those would be great to have in a little city.

I would love to get a moped for where I go, but unfortunately my town isn't the largest and many places that I need to get to are far away.

As an example, my town sits in between two other towns, each about 20 miles away. When I was working, I would have to go 20 miles each way to work. If we needed something specific, that's another 20 miles each way to the other city.

If we have to take a trip to my in-laws house, thats about 15 miles each way. Things are just so spread apart here where I live. I wish I was back in Detroit where everything was within reach.

I could walk if the weather was appropriate for me. We have many stores within about a mile. Gas is $4.15 here today. I may be walking soon. I could use the exercise anyway.

Holy moly... gas is really up today (because of the spring break or WTH..?). I've seen several gas prices range from $3.65 to $3.89 a gallon...!! 😠

Gas prices are up because the greedy b@@stards aren't satisfied with all the profits they have already made. It's not supply and demand that causes the prices to rise as they say. Demand has been less and the price still goes up. I think if someone farts, they use it as an excuse to raise the prices.

Have you seen those cherry commercials from BP telling how wonderful the gulf is now and everything is fine? People are so sick in some of those southern states. They have been poisoned by all of that stuff that was sprayed to disperse the oil. (evidence) Many people are dying, but we never hear a word on the news. I don't watch the fake news, but that is what I have seen from YT videos. Sad
