Geez, I REALLY Hate the IRS

16 replies • Last post

My wife and I got our taxes done two weeks ago and filed them electronically, and I was supposed to get my refund in on Valentine's Day. Well, that day came and went with no refund. Same thing yesterday.... So today rolls around and I still have no tax refund in my bank account. I think to myself, "What the heck is going on?" and call the IRS to see where my refund is at.

On the phone they tell me the system flagged my refund because it said I owed the IRS money. I had the guy look into the account and he tells me that it was just a glitch in the system, but now my payment is being delayed another week at a minimum!

AGGG! I am so frustrated right now! Have you guys ever had any tax horror stories?

That stinks. I use Tax Act or some other online program. Last year I found a few extra hundred dollars by using this program. The only problems I've had are delay problems. It use to take about 6 weeks to get a refund.

OMGosh, B'Slim! How frustrating! The thing is when THEY make an error, it is completely out of our control, and they do nothing to make it up, but if WE make an error....watch out! 😠

I have had years where I expected a refund and ended up paying in, especially years ago when I was self-employed and knew nothing. I remember crying, because I struggled all year long to survive, then owed them money!

My oldest son had a shock this year, too. He usually gets back close to a grand, but he must have inched up into the next tax bracket and ended up with only 63 dollars federal and 0 state. Of course, they say that is best to really get no refund and have more of our money to spend all year long, but many people count on that refund and even use it as a way to save money and then get back that big chunk.

Good thing you called. I hope it shows up in your account very soon!

The new date is the 22nd. I am hoping it comes through, as I recently lost my job and could use the money to help catch up on my bills.

I keep a positive attitude on things though. It WILL all work out in the end! 🙂

I am sorry, too. Sitting here on unemployment, with a PT job and Master's degree. Fun, huh? May we both win MANY big jackpots and they can take the taxes out of our millions, lol. And, yes, I have always been a dreamer, lol!

I had mailed our tax last week due to some important documents. Hopefully, our refund is on the way.

The economy should be back on track according to the media (yeah right....?). The stock market went up soaring today. I think there are still jobs out there as long as you're not too picky.. 😉 Good luck and cross your fingers!

I don't believe anything the news says. They are all presstitutes.

I love this quote. I am so going to use it if you don't mind. 😂

This just reminded me that I have a couple of tax bills to pay. The lovely tax department here makes you pre-pay tax if you're a business owner, so I have to pay the bloody thing in advance of next year's return (after June 30). Supposedly it is for my own good, so I can better manage my cash flow. Yeah right.

Oh how convenient that they want to collect interest off your "pre-payment." How nice of them to watch out for you, she says, dripping with sarcasm, lol!

I like that one, too, LM and CL-Ed! Good one, and I strongly agree!

Holy cow, I actually got a spot of good news from the IRS last night. Apparently my tax refund will be in on Monday, and then my state refund will be on Wednesday!

This will bring me back to being financially good. I caught my bills up as of today and now everything else will be set for a good portion of the year.

I always had faith it would work out for the best, and it appears that things are right where they need to be! 😂

Fantastic news! Thank you for sharing.

What a relief that you will finally receive what you had to wait for due to THEIR mistake. Well, now you will appreciate it even more, right? 🙂

I can't take credit for the quote. I think Gerald Celente coined the phrase.
