Never-ending trivia

673 replies • Last post

We're going to play a bit of a game in this thread - I start off by asking a trivia question and you try to answer it. If you get the answer right, you then ask the next question.

The only rule is this: don't ask a new question until the current one has been answered.

So here we go, first question. If you know the answer just post it then ask the next question. If you aren't sure you have the right answer just wait until I or someone else confirms it!

In which film does Bruce Lee fight Jackie Chan?

A Romanian count Vlad Tepes, a real-life figure who dealt with Turks by killing them on a stake (which used to be a favorite Turkish sport with prisoners, actually).

Yes, nasty guy. I once read a story about him ... a servant was holding his nose and when asked why by Vlad he said the smell of all the rotting corpses was too much. So Vlad had him impaled on an extra high stake so that he could be above the stench where the air was clear.

Hahahaha, seems like a cool guy! 😂 But this is mostly legend; people say that he wasn't a bad ruler at all. After all, he got rid of Turks, so I guess his people was grateful. Anyway, my turn:

What was the name of the Benedictine monk who legend has it invented Champagne?

Those monks sure had a good time back then ... all those delicious belgian beers were made by monks too. Sounds like they must have sat around all day getting smashed.

But I have no idea ... did they name it after him? Moet?

Aww my guess of Moet was close! Wrong brand ...

I think you have it CatFace, that blackjack scene in Rain Man was a classic. They did a funny parody of it in The Hangover too.

Okay then, my funny question is:

Who said: "I'm the president of the United States and I'm not going to eat any more broccoli"? 😜

I have no idea but it sounds like something George Dubya Bush would say.

Well what do you know.. actually I just looked it up and it was his father George Bush Snr when he was president (btw what is it with people who give their kids the same name as them? ... its odd).

Football (soccer) legend George Best once said this about a current famous player.

"He cannot kick with his left foot, he cannot head a ball, he cannot tackle and he doesn't score many goals. Apart from that he's all right."

Who was he talking about?

Hmm that's a tough one ed. Not very familiar with soccer stars.

There are a lot of juniors here in the states named after dad. It is to carry on the legacy.

Ummmm, a celeb couple? She died before him? He likes flowers? It's obviously not Lady D and Prince Charles. 😜 Perhaps Jackie and Aristotle Onassis? 🙂

ok so I have done a bit of reading and I think I know who it might be. But the version I found said he "sent" flowers to her grave twice a week, so its either wrong or not as impressive 😉

That was Joe DiMaggio and Marilyn Monroe.
