Twenty Questions

Hello Friends,

Can we use another guessing game? I thought this one might be fun, because we can think of anything "that exists in the universe," we are limited to "yes or no" questions, and players must guess within twenty questions or the poster wins.

Here are the rules:

First poster must think of something that exists in this universe. She may answer only Yes or No to the other players' questions.

First player begins the game by asking a yes or no question. The best questions to ask first are general ones such as "Is this a class of things?" or "Is this a unique item?"

Ask up to 20 questions to try to determine what the player is thinking. The classic Twenty Questions question is whether the object is an animal, vegetable or mineral but remember that things made of plastic or other man-made materials are none of these. (I have also heard, "Is it bigger than a breadbox," for a common Twenty-Questions question).

Ask questions such as "Is it alive or is it dead?" if you determine that the object is a living creature. You may also want to ask whether it is human or not and if so, whether it is male or female. Other good questions involve finding out if the object is famous or notorious or if it's someone in your direct acquaintance.

Answer ambiguous, non-"yes or no" questions by replying "I can't answer that question." You may also reply "I don't know" if it is a question you can't answer.

Win the game as a questioner if you can determine what the first player is thinking of before using up all of your twenty questions. The person giving the answers wins if no one is able to guess what she is thinking of.

EACH PLAYER IS ALLOWED TWENTY QUESTIONS, BUT MAY ONLY ASK ONE QUESTION AT A TIME, THEN WAIT FOR THE ANSWER BEFORE POSTING ANOTHER QUESTION.

Play this game with a small group for the greatest effect. This will allow the twenty questions to be distributed evenly among the players. If the group is small enough, twenty questions may be allotted to each of the players.

IN THE CASE OF CL, WE NEED A GROUP LARGE ENOUGH, SO COME ONE PEOPLE! LET'S PLAY MORE GAMES, HELP THE FORUMS BECOME MORE ACTIVE AND EARN THOSE CL CHIPS!!! 🙂

Play the next round by letting the victor think of the next object for the other players to guess.

Information retrieved from How to Play Twenty Questions, E How, http://www.ehow.com/how_2044552_play-twenty-questions.html on March 4, 2012.

Tips: Ask specific questions to get the most revealing answers. Novice players tend to ask questions that could apply to some but not all of the object's characteristics and therefore may receive a misleading answer of "Yes

Well I know it is NOT made up of more than 50% plastic. lol I have been thinking about what it could be made of, but I would have to ask a lot of questions. I will try this one:

14 Is the greatest percentage of the item made out of metal?

Thinking glass or wood now. Let me think about it before I ask the next question, though. I am going to run out of questions soon enough. lol

Yes, you are running out of questions fast. Maybe look over some questions for previous items? I usually have to look over all the clues several times before I can make a guess. Many times I've still been stumped.

I also run the questions and answers through the online 20Q game often. Gives me ideas for questions to ask plus possible answers.

Going to sum it up one more time here:

The obect is not considered functional
2. Not typically given as a gift (but Luckyme would like one for christmas, lol)
3. The item is powered by an outside source
4. Larger than a pound of butter
5. Does not make noise
6. Is used more exclusively in one room of the house over other rooms.
7. The object does not open and close.
8. Not commonly used in the kitchen.
9. Not used most often in the bathroom.
10 Not made of more than 50 percent plastic
11. One does not have to hold the object in order to use it
12. The object can be turned on and off
13. Not larger than a microwave oven
14. Not made up mainly of metal

AND ONE MORE QUESTION (After this only five more!) 🙂

15. Would it be common to find the object on a desk?

14. Hmmm, I would have to say no. Do you mean like an office desk? If so, then no.

Yes, an office desk or even a desk at home. If that would be the "usual" place for the object.
