I've placed a little bet to make the upcoming play-offs even more exiting to follow.

Not much of a stake but will add to the drama for me.

Here's the full list of the contenders odds (at least the realistic ones) to win the cup.

I think Washington, Toronto and Edmonton are really overlooked by the bookies and having in mind the high odds.. every of those 3 could well worth a shot...even a team like Dallas.

What's your thoughts on it Dustin?

Hahahaha, oh sharpe, you had to make that dig, didn't ya? πŸ˜πŸ˜‚πŸ˜œ

I think it's gonna be the Avs or Lightning. The Lightning have struggled the last few weeks, but they're primed to get it together in time for playoffs. Edmonton and Toronto are just chokers. I don't feel like they're primed up to make a run at anything long-term. Second-round playoff exits for the both of them. Avs, well they're just so superior that I find it hard for a team to take 4 of 7 from them in a series. Just a really well-rounded team.

Yeah.. all around valid points there Dustin.

I can't write off Lighting of course...but just don't think they're so flashy this season..so maybe they could raise there level again before the play-offs..but I just don't have the feel they'd going to win 3rd time in a row in this so even league...if that make sense.

Avalanche - no doubt they are so talented and attractive to watch... maybe the best team in the league.. but still they have to convince me... when it's about play-offs.

I totally agree with what you're saying about Maple Leafs and Oilers... both teams extremely talented in attack but very suspicious when it comes to defending and goalkeeping... but it would be the most enjoyable final series ever...isn't it..πŸ˜‰..although quite unlikely.

Crazy play-offs this season...I think more exciting than ever!

7of the 8 matchups have been tied at 2-2 and only Colorado who won their series easily...but Nashvile hasn't been in a great form entering the postseason anyway....so not sure Avalanche wouldn't be a bit over confident entering the next round.

I'm certainly excited about Kings chances...to reach next stage..but generally it's been a great watch and hihg scores all over...what's your thoughts on it Dustin?

I'm very interested in this first round. There's a ton of Game 7's coming, and I'm going to be really excited to see how it shakes out. Colorado still has to be the team to beat. I think they'll slide to the Conference Finals no problem.

Here's hoping the Oilers and Leafs lose! I've been watching a lot of the Tampa and Toronto series, and it's been very, very good hockey. Detroit is really close to Toronto, so I grew up watching Hockey Night in Canada from the Windsor CBC station. That meant I watched a lot of Leafs in my youth. I have no real animosity toward them, but their fans are going to be hard to listen to if they win a Cup, so I hope they lose just for that.

Battle of Alberta starts tomorrow night with the Calgary Flames vs the Edmonton Oilers . I cant wait, this whole province goes into rivalry mode with the 2 cities being only a 3 hour drive away from each other. If the flames dont step up their game the Oilers will bury them. I dont think Edmontons goaltending can do the same that Dallas had wow. Not many goalies out there that can put on the kind of show that Dallas's had the other night.

So, I hate Ken Holland for what he ended up doing to my Red Wings. He had success with the team, but it was largely based on the work of Scotty Bowman and having no salary cap to bring in players like Brett Hull and Luc Robitaille, while having a player like Hasek basically say the only place he'd be traded to is Detroit. Once the cap came into place and the Hall of Fame players left, it was up to him to keep it going, and those years of dumb trades hurt us.

Because of that, GO FLAMES! I think that's going to be a lot of fun to watch. Both crowds are going to really be into it. If a Canadian team is to win a Cup next, I really want it to be Calgary or Ottawa (who're years away).

Probably most of the neutrals want to see Avalanche - Oilers matchup in the Western Final and I don't blame them for that but I still hope Flames can turn around their series.

And Lightning once again raised their game for the play-offs...could anybody stop them really!?!

For me it would be a bit weird in this so tied league (at least in regular season) one team to win the cup for a third straight time.

WaroftheGods, what happened with the Flames? Now that muttonhead Ken Holland is one step closer to the Finals. I really hope the Avalanche (whom I hate due to the feud days) knocks them out.

I guess they've got the...Connor virus manπŸ˜‰ The guy has just reached another level.

Not an Avalanche fan myself...but right now I'll cheer for them...in any case should be a great spectacle this series...expectedly.

Yes, this is going to be a fantastic series. It all starts tonight! I love how long the playoffs are. The Stanley Cup truly is the hardest trophy to win in sports.

I could definitely agree it's the hardest one slim.

Didn't see coming Rangers to be 2-0 up but I hope they could go all the way...you have to expect a response from TB though.

Oilers deference just leaking... could be a famous last words...but I don't see them coming back against a fantastic Avalanche team...the intensity and speed of the play in this series is...something else really.

Avs are Finals bound pending a collapse after being up 3-0. The question is whether it'll be the Lightning or Rangers. The Rangers have looked great in this series, but the Lightning are the back-to-back champs, so you can't write them off.

Man I love playoff time. 😍😍

It's an easy thing to say now (after game 5) but I've got the gut feeling even before that... it will be Lightning in the final...they've won all the close games against Rangers and after being 0-2 down... I really can't see NY climbing back to it... what can I say...probably my thin bet...jinxs them... it's been going all so well.

My prediction is though Avs will win the final...4-2 or 4-3, the latter option will give us a great suspence of course.. but who doesn't want to see a final series ending in 7!!

It's going to be a fantastic Final. I think it could go either way, but I have to back up my initial post where I called for the Avs. Pretty spot-on analysis if you ask me. πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‚

The flames are the best at what they do, and that is, not show up come playoff time lol. They looked so solid most of the season. I thought if they could just play their game, and play some well structured hockey as a team they would cruise right to the cup finals.

Haha, yeah well from a Wings fan, I can feel that. On a side note, did you see the Unrivaled documentary on ESPN, which follows the Avs/Wings feud (at least the first few days)? It's really good.

Avs ended up taking the Cup, as expected. And of course, the oafs dropped it and dented it when getting to the team picture! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Wings are looking good, sharpe! 3 games in 4 days to start the season and they snagged 5 out of 6 points. I was watching last night on a bunch of painkillers and muscle relaxers (spent a good chunk of the day in hospital) and was so entranced by seeing them have a good team for the first time in nearly a decade. It's great!

Yeah it's a nice start for them slim, have been watching the Kings game the other day when they snatch a point quite dramatically and lost a bit unlucky in OT but it was an exiting one.

I'm sorry to hear you're in hospital man, hope it's nothing serious... get well!

ha-ha...as unbiased as you could be slim!

Bruins are great so far in the regular season but I'm not sure about them when it comes to the play-offs.. just don't think they're tough enough when it comes to defense... but I might be wrong... it would be too easy of a bet staking on them...for my liking anyway.

Another tough season for Red Wings, I expected more from them but...?

Go Kings, Go.

I really haven't been following the trading deadline that closely this time round but there have been some major moves.. I've been a bit surprised by St Louis part ways with their biggest stars.

Probably Rangers, Maple Leafs and Bruins have done really well strengthening their squads although you might argue there's too many stars in the NY offence now, if that could be a problem at all!?

I'm also still shocked by Kings trading away Quick after so many years but I believe it would be for the good of the team.. or at least I hope so.

Which moves have been the best (or exiting ones) according to you Dustin?
