Since we have EPL and CL topics all ready I thought it could be a good idea to have one thread for all of the other top (or not) domestic football leagues.

Yeah the Italians wasn't prepared enough fr that even the ball was yellow instead of orange/red so maybe that's why they've cancelled the game.
Didn't saw any Russians game this season Ed, but I've saw couple of Bundesliga matches over the weekend and there wasn't any snowiin Germany, I think the cold front is mainly here in South Europe right now because here we have snowy weather for the last few days and it's the same from what I saw from Bergamo in that postponed game.

This is the kind of thing I'm talking about! From Northern Ireland with love... 😂

Apparently the orange ball burst and they had to play the second half with a white ball! Listen for the "change the ball change the ball change the ball" chant about 1:27 in.

Yeah, great stuff Ed, white ball should be a nightmare not only for the viewers but I could imagine for the keepers too 🙂

I was thinking about this last night and thought that we probably don't see this much any more because the big rich clubs all have underground heating below their pitches to make sure the grass grows and they don't freeze over.

Yeah you're right about that Ed, the other night Spurs played their replay for the FA Cup v Rochdale at Wembley, and the underground heating was turned on, the field was almost perfect first half and then the snow was visible just in second half but nothing serious, and that in mind that there was a heavy snowfall during the day.

Some of the Italian league games called off this weekend because Fiorentina's captain Astori died in his sleep last night. It is always shocking to see a supremely fit professional athlete die early like that, it's hard to believe.

Yeah I heard about that Ed, didn't know what was causing the death exactly, and if that is caused of some medicaments but it's really strange for a 30 year old. It's maybe terrible thing to say but can't say I'm surprised by that.
Just recently while watching a game and seeing all the players running like mad for the whole 90mins I thought they're just overworked.
Maybe that would sound too cynic but you could really expect such things happening to be very honest...

They seem to think it was a heart attack in his sleep. It is hard to believe a pro footballer, who is probably monitored by doctors almost every day of his life, could have an undetected heart problem.

Yeah, really strange Ed, the other such tragic events occurred on the pitch which at least looks more logical...don't even have a clue for that though.

Napoli not winning in two in a row now and I guess the most logical thing happened when Juventus take the lead in the table, I was optimistic Napoli could give them a hard time right trough the end this season but it doesn't look so likely any more.

So we could still have a thrilling finish to the season in Italy after last night Napoli's win over Juventus.

I think the home side played too defensive almost inviting the visitors to score that late winner, playing for a 0-0 (draw) it's always a dangerous tactics.

here's both teams fixtures in the last four weeks, I think Juventus one is slightly tougher...so who knows.

Yes they are TheMiz 😉 Sorry Ed 😜

Did you saw that inter - Juventus game?

I just saw the second half but I think that's where the championship have been decided.

Inter played really decent football man down and succeed to score two which was amazing against the Italian league dominator’s and when I thought the League would get even more interesting because I didn't seeing any way back for Juve... they scored two in a couple of minutes first from the outline in a strange ricochet which left the keeper no chance, amazing...and quite lucky really.

So mathematically not but in practice the League race is over after Napoli had lost too.

Juventus win again, as do Bayern Munich. Interesting stats from Bayern's game on the weekend...

Bayern - Stuttgart
Shots: 18 - 7
Possession: 81% - 19%
Corners: 10 - 0
Goals: 1 - 4 😂

That never happens to them when it really matters though!

Yeah, not a surprise really that both teams won their Leagues, it's 7th straight for Juventus(last 4 seasons doubles with the cup) and 6th straight for Bayern! It's about best of the rest really in both leagues.

Check out this penalty decision in the Serbian league this weekend. The referee appears to claim it was handball. What do you think... match fixing?

Wow, I hope the referee just got it all wrong but that's just weird, let's say he thought he saw something that nobody else does (it could happen I guess) but at the closest touchline there's have to be an assistant ..so he's about 15-20 meters away from the situation and he saw the same thing as the ref???

I usually don't like the match fixing theme, especially without any info (probably I'm a bit too naive about this subject) but when the ref gives a penalty like that to your opponents we expecting to see the whole team surrounding the ref and at least a couple of bookings for contestations, non of that happened which is the most weird...and then when the doubt starts....

Obviously we can't know for sure if it is fixing, but if it looks like a duck...

If it is match fixing or spot fixing (maybe betting on whether there will be a penalty) it has to be one of the worst executions ever. That's a good point and it is odd that there weren't more protests. Number 7 had a whinge and it looks like the referee tells him its for handball which could only be in his imagination. Maybe they all know that fixing happens and there is nothing they can do.

Did you see Barcelona's dream of the unbeaten season ended the other day by Levante? They lost 5-4 but at one stage Levante were up 5-1. They have won the league already of course, but Atletico just need a point or more on the final day to be sure of 2nd place ahead of Real Madrid who are probably all thinking about the Champions League final anyway.

From what I've heard of match fixing at least 3or4 players from the loosing side should of been bribed and maybe N7 didn't get anything 😉 that's why he's the only one upset there.
But honestly spot fixing is a new term for me, as I said I'm too naive probably and never thought of that but it makes sense really, I guess in spot fixing you would need only one person bribed..and it's the ref..but the assistants too I guess.

Yes I think I've seen i when it was 5-1 to Levante and I thought it's not much at a stake for Barcelona in this one, didn't even thought of their unbeaten season, in the end not the worst thing it could happen to you...isn't it, better this way than loosing next season title race with a single point or goal difference...I would of swap an unbeaten season for a two titles won in the last day 😉

Yeah I guess it's not much of a difference for Real being 2 or 3rd despite the local rivals would be in front of them in the standings, it could sounds strange but I think they would of even agree to be 5th if they would of guarantee them the win in the CL final.

Wow, what a game from Eintracht to win the German Cup, congrats Ed 👍

Tell me there's not justice, 2 years back Bayern defeated Dortmund on the final after penalties, last season Dortmund defeated Frankfurt really tough but now Frankfurt take it to balance I think 😉

From what I saw they've played really good and deserved it, by the way what a way for Nico Kovac to end his Eintraht spell and defeat his future employers, that should be the ultimate professionalism I guess.
By the way Bayern had 18-3 w/l record before this final which I think is insane, not normal really, for example Dortmund are 4/5 lost the 3 straight before that win over Eintraht last year but lost couple of times to Bayern - penalties and e.t. which was quite unlucky too of course.

Oh yeah I was just going to post about the German cup final here. It's about time Frankfurt won something as they have pretty much won nothing since I started supporting them, except for the 2nd division way back in the 90s. Even last time they were promoted from the second division it was only after finishing second.

It was hugely controversial at the end. Bayern should have had a penalty kick and ok, the referee can miss the incident or not see it clearly. But when he goes to the sideline and watches his own personal replay on the VAR I just can't understand how he could not award it. It was a foul that was as clear as day. Yet another example that goes to show that VAR can make things even worse than the problems it is trying to solve.

And then Eintracht rub it in by running the ball straight up the other end from the corner into an open goal with the substitutes already on the field celebrating before the ball was even into the net. Amazing scenes!

It was quite funny after the game too. Obviously Kovac is going to Bayern next year so he had to be diplomatic and he conceded that yes there should have been a penalty. But all that did was make the Bayern players and supporters even more furious!

Can't remember that situation with the penalty you're speaking of but there was clear penalty for Chelsea at the cup final,Ashley Young even moved his arm toward the ball so it was an intentional handball and the ref didn't even go to see the replay, obviously they said him in the earphones there was not an obvious error made by him!
Wrong or not in the end the decision should be taken by a human...and we saw already too many obvious mistakes using VAR, but sometimes it's a tough decision even with all the replays.

As for Bayern, I don't think they could of complain about the ref too much, generally speaking over the years in Germany they've been from the good side of the refs decisions in maybe 80 - 90% of the times so if you ask me it's some kind of a kinky justice maybe.
And even if that was ruled penalty it's not certain they would of scored it, also with their play Eintracht I think created the circumstances in which the good fortune could of been on their side.

And about 3rd Frankfurt goal I don't blame the ref too, while watching it I thought it would be funny if there were 30 more seconds to play from the stoppage time, it would of probably take half an hour for fans to return to their sits and game to be restarted, luckily for him time's off and he blew the whistle 😉
Clear goal Ed, with or without subs on the field 😜

Believe me what should happen - will happen, and we can't explain why.

Yesterday at Lazio - Inter (quite exiting game by the way) the ref ruled a penalty for Inter, then reversed it after checking the VAR (I think it was a pen) and then 2 minutes after ... a penalty for Inter, an obvious one.

And that's just one of the examples of a few I've seen lately that if something has to happen - will happen, with or without or despite the VAR.

Bayern looks pretty shaky right now and I wonder if the time for a change at the top of the Bundesliga has finally come, probably I'm writing that in the beginning of every season for the past few but they really looks fragile under the new coach.

Dortmund has made an unbelievable comeback at home in a 4-3 win v Augsburg in a thriller, hopefully they could be a contenders but as usual an unpredictable team really.

Yeah I thought you would be happy when I saw the result of Bayern's match. I like the Bundesliga, it has plenty of evenly matched attacking teams, though obviously with Bayern way out in front most years. Hopefully their poor run continues and we get a genuine title battle. My guys Frankfurt had a poor start but they have improved the past few weeks. But clearly Kovac leaving for Bayern hasn't worked well for either team so far.

Real Madrid have had a dodgy week too. I loved seeing Alaves score in the 95th minute this weekend, a goal line header right in front of a despairing Sergio Ramos.

Yeah I am happy about the Bayern result Ed, I've seen just the second half and couldn't believe my eyes when turned on their channel.
I think they created a lot of chances second half so not that poor really but generally Gladbach were solid in defense while Bayern were not.

Both Real and Barcelona are shaky on the start in La Liga and I wonder if some of the rest could start believing a bit more but probably that's just a hypothetical option right now, maybe no one in Spain playing that great at the moment really.
