This has to make you smile. Its an Icelandic commentator completely losing it as they attack and score in injury time against Austria to make it through to the knockout round.

Ooh I love the Yaya / Kolo Toure at the tube station dance 😂

A long time ago there was a Scottish goalkeeper named Andy Goram. It was revealed in the news that he had schizophrenia. So next week the fans started chanting "Two Andy Gorams, there's only 2 Andy Gorams!".

That commentator was definitely out of control 😀 I guess nobody in Iceland blame him.

Probably we shouldn't make laugh of it but it's just hilarious.
I've had watched him in play, if I'm not mistaken he was Rangers and Scotland great keeper, at the same time Ally McCoist was a player there probably, sorry to hear about his sickness.

Hahah no actually I think that is hilarious! 😂

It reminds me of the time some workmen at Old Trafford messed with the neon sign above the stadium...

That guy obviously had been on few drinks, some drugs (or both) or a City fan, can't guess of any other explanation which would sound logical.

This happened a long time ago, maybe around 2007. From memory I think it was discovered that the workmen were actually United fans who did not like the takeover of the club by Americans.

I think I herd that but was forgot about it and probably never saw the picture before, he was right about those f... Americans, but the only thing we could blame them I guess is that they are spending...too much for the club 😀

Anyway back on the topic of cool sports videos, how about this one. Its from Sweden where a defender scores the third of his hat trick then gets sent off for a 2nd yellow card because the referee did not like his unique celebration.

https://twitter.com/NorrbyIF/status/770594939549913088/video/1

Or this one.. Shane Duffy of Blackburn Rovers. 2 own goals, 2 yellow cards, one man of the match performance.

They were both great videos Ed 👍
The celebration of the Swedish guy was just unique but obviously the ref didn't saw the fun side of it 🙂
He was so mad after the sending off 😀 but what you expect when you just take a seat in the stands 😀

Thats a great set of photos. I think its the first good thing I've ever seen on the Daily Mail website!

Its great that the owners worked out a way to keep the team at such a historic stadium and also increase the capacity so more people can go watch each week. Thats a better result than some insanely expensive brand new stadium with no soul.

Yes agreed Ed, I remember when Anfield and Old Trafford both had quite similar number of seats and now United has this huge stadium for years and it was about time for Liverpool to step up and upgrade theirs.
I doubt that the incomes from the tickets have so significant role (if any) in the PL clubs budgets like it was before but you never know with the price of the tickets these days 😉

Lets revive this thread with one of the greatest own goals of all time. It was scored by Jamie Pollock playing for Manchester City, in a match that saw them relegated from the Championship to League 1, the third tier of English football. How times change!

hahha good one 😂

It was sad to read that Carlos Alberto died this week aged 72, so have another look at one of the most iconic goals of all time. This was 1970, Brazil beating Italy 4-1 in the world cup final at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico. Brazil almost walk the ball up the field until Alberto emerges from the right of your screen to absolutely smash it in to the bottom corner. It has been called by many the greatest goal of all time...

This one shows it from the other side of the field:

I don't know about the greatest goal ever but it's definitely one of the great goals ever scored, the fact it's on the final making it even more special in people's minds of course.
I guess every generation has his heroes and greatest goals to remember and in my mind it's Van Basten volley on the 88 final against Soviet Union which was something incredible back then and it's still N1 for me despite we had seen many even better and more entertaining after that.
like this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bS9Xrme-9yA

That's another classic from Van Basten I couldn't forget.

Oh yeah the Van Basten volley is amazing but I think his bicycle kick for Ajax was even better. That is an amazing headed goal but the defending is atrocious. The defender who crosses is allowed to stumble with the ball upfield then cross without being challenged at all. One of the Madrid defenders is trying to block the cross from about 10m away. Its shockingly bad.

Yes it's amazingly how the game developed in those 20 or so years, I mean in pace, it's certainly impossible these days defender to make that break at that speed unchallenged even in the lower rated leagues.
And beside Real were pretty poor team back then 🙂
Don't think I remember that bycicle kick Ed, it was against real too? in a 5-0 win?

Remember a few years ago everyone went crazy about Rooney shinning one in? Van Basten did almost the same thing from the same position but technically better many years earlier. It was a Dutch league match when he was playing at Ajax.

Yes I remember it now that I've seen that before, great really, Van Basten always been one of the most elegant players, really one of mine idols.
