Anyone been watching the French Open? Usually its the tournament I enjoy the least due to the slow pace and the endless baseline rallies. But this year I've been watching Barty with Aussie eyes and she has been going very well. At the risk of cursing her she's got a great chance of going all the way now that she has made the semis. I think she might even be the top seeded player now that Halep is gone.

O, I'm a Barty fan mate, think she playing very courageous in her style, not afraid of approaching the net and maybe has the best volleys in women tennis, this is something we should admire in the era when the modern players are 99% base-court hitters despite some of them have a decent volleys too.

A bit strange Barty reached a GS final exactly at the clay but..

Too bad I've missed all the matches this year, wouldn't be the case if I knew some of the scores and the upsets there, the final would be between two girls never reached there before so everything could happen I guess...will support Barty though.

Ha I didn't even jinx her. She smashed it in a one sided final. I didn't even end up watching it though because of the rain delay and then they were finishing off the men's semi final. It was way past midnight and they still had not started so I decided to go to bed instead.

You're right it is strange she won it on clay. Her own parents didn't even get there as they had booked flights to London to watch her play in Wimbledon as they never imagined she would get so far in Paris.

Yeah...maybe the final was the easiest match Barty had to play on this years tournament, Vondrousova never seems to get going in that and maybe that's been even expected having in mind her inexperience not only in later stages of the GS tournaments but in general.

I think Barty's certain now she made the right choice picking tennis instead of cricket...does she!?!

Halep was really convincing against Williams in the final, that's about the best I've seen her ever played, really strong and confident which just shows how good of a player she could be when she's in top form.

Perfectly happy with Halep winning Wimbledon and Barty Fench Open this year.

Yeah its great to see some variety in the winners and both are really good and likeable players. I don't think anyone could begrudge them winning a major each.

Ha-ha...probably nobody except for the Serena fans who's after a few records I believe..but she was never in my book of the most talented players although I can't deny she has the character...and quite a bit of physical dominance as well.

Same question here as in the ATP thread...with the remark I'm even worst informed about women's tournament...but anything that have impressed you?

Its all about Barty in the news here which I guess is to be expected. I'm not convinced sah'es in the best form though. She has dropped a few sets and is a bit inconsistent. The one who has been playing well is Muguruza. She's unseeded but has been crushing everyone. Knowing my death touch that means she'll lose in the quarters today!

I'll definitely support Barty, fingers crossed fpr her.

You've pointed Muguruzza but I saw Halep has been quite convincing in her QF as well so it would probably be one hell of the semi between those two, I definitely should watch the rest of the tournament.

πŸ˜‚

Well Barty is gone now but at least my death touch didn't get Muguruza. I did manage to get Nadal though in the other thread which I count as a major achievement.

Sorry in advance to Muguruza but I'm tipping her to win the final.

My advice would be sit and watch some female tennis Kris...you'd be amazed how unattractive some of the girls are (this is just my opinion of course) compared to some of the other sports...always wondered why is that by he way..πŸ€”
I think you're a beach volley fan...you just still don't know it I guessπŸ˜‰πŸ˜€

Appreciate it mate, would consider buying a life insurance...just in caseπŸ˜‰

I've missed the Barti's semifinal but obviously that American/Russian whatever girl have shown a really strong character from what I saw in the final...won't be her biggest fan anyway...but maybe now when Serena's not that dominant and some of the rest who have been in top 10 for a long time not ready to step up the plate we'll see some surprising winners in the next GS tournaments as well!?
