So..you are the champions of the world Ed😉...congrats👍

I didn't saw any of the games but have checked the results and apparently it wasn't that easy of a ride for Liverpool?

Yes the games were close, which I think was to be expected. There are a lot of good players in Central and South America and the teams that qualify for this tournament are obviously used to winning. I know that the people in England who focus purely on the Premier League don't have much of an idea of football from anywhere else in the world and they probably expected Liverpool to steamroll over the other teams. Its a good one to win because clubs rarely have a chance to participate in it.

The final was very close, though Liverpool probably should have won it in normal time after hitting the post and missing a couple of other very good chances. The referee (from Qatar I think) was abysmal. At one stage he booked Rafinha for tripping Mane just outside the box when he was through on goal with only the keeper to beat. He awards a penalty and a yellow card. Then he goes to the VAR which shows the trip was outside the box. Instead of a free kick and a yellow or even a red he reverses his decision entirely and has a drop ball. Earlier Mane was yellow carded for pushing away a player who had two arms around him pulling him back like a rugby tackle. There were loads of other stupid little things like that. In the end they gave the player of the tournament award to Salah which was baffling as he did very little. But judging by the cheers every time he touched the ball he must have been the crowd favourite. They probably still would have given it to him if he sat on the bench the whole time.

I don't like the way the tournament is scheduled and I read that FIFA wants to expand it to 24 or 32 teams. I can't see how that is going to work unless all the leagues decide to reduce the number of games and there is zero chance of that happening.

Yeah I also heard from another place the ref has been out of his depth but didn't even imagined he was that poor...shouldn't the best refs to be appointed for what suppose to be a club WC finals?

What you've said about Salah being best player also sounds ridiculous...

Yeah, I also think there's no free dates in the calendar anyway..and hopefully they won't do that...who needs another big tournament(potentially played with the reserve squads for the biggest part)..not the players anyway...call me stupid but for that we have Carabao and FA Cup already...although some of the smaller countries (in football meaning) might fancy it...potentially if there's a decent prize fund🤔..not me as a fan though.

I don't follow the news about the virus situation closely at all but obviously the situation is worrying and probably from what I've heard there's a good chance some of the European top leagues to be cancelled (even though temporarily) and probably Euro's to be rearranged for the next summer.

Maybe it would be the right thing to do..not sure...

So probably most if not all the leagues (and probably not just in Europe) will cancel the games for indefinite time..and there's in fact probably a good chance the season to not be completed at all!!

It would raise a lot of questions of how the tables would determined in that scenario and all other kind of issues of course...

Hopefully the things would settle after the int break and the season would continue but right now that doesn't look very likely, is it?!

So..in fact football's back!...didn't expected it to be honest...and I'm not sure whether I have to be exited about it..or I just don't care...kind of use to world where there isn't any sport...sadly.

Obviously Bundesliga games starting this very weekend behind close doors (it would be like the local league here on any given day😉)...so that not bother me that much...if at all...and also heard there won't be VAR (I guess that's a great news for you Ed😛)...so I guess few other leagues 😛would follow the Germans example and will restart their leagues sooner or later...I guess you want to see the PL season concluded Ed !?!😉

The thing is what would happen with the leagues who already decided the season would not be concluded like the French, Netherlands and Belgium leagues if I not mistaken.

I wrote all this just today but here's a link in case you've missed it Ed.

No VAR? I guess at least some small bit of good has come from this horrible situation. 😉

They restarted in Korea last weekend and they are showing the games here as there are a few Australians playing in the league there. They never stopped in Belarus either because apparently the president doesn't believe it exists in his country despite tens of thousands of people testing positive.

I think these countries in Europe are taking big risks in restarting so soon. They have been hit so much harder than here in Australia for example and no-one is restarting here any time soon. Oh except for NRL rugby league which restarts in 2 weeks but they are well known for being idiotic from top to bottom, administrators through to players.

I don't know about the premier league. The UK government has completely screwed up and it is out of hand there so I don't think restarting that soon is a good idea. It might be harsh on the teams at the bottom but they should just do the same as France and end it as it stands and name Liverpool the champions. 😉

Yeah, I even saw one game a week ago...it was so "exiting"...the forwards couldn't hit an empty net from like 4 m away...so like in the 30th minute I told my friend it's a stone cold 0-0...he refused to believe me so I've been stuck watching that parody for the whole duration...if I wanted to be bored to death I probably should watch the Bulgarian league, even that is slightly better...just... maybe...

Lol, I had the feeling you could say something like this😉

Won't argue if this would be a fair decision or not but I guess football will be back in England in June at least from what I last read...and you're probably right it would be quite a risk.

Yeah, there's more here about that, so it seems they gave every league the right to decide for themselves whether they want to use VAR or not so I guess there would be some that would still prefer to use it.

Also I'm not sure about the 5 subs rule...but in the end if that's for the good of players health who am I to argue it...
