LOL. I honestly didn't even know they were playing. I take it we copped it from the Poms?

Absolutely Ed Party

4-0 in the one dayers - would have been 5 but for the rain...... Cry or was it all the tears from Earl's Court......

I'll have a Fosters or 2 on you in celebration Beer as it won't happen again soon haha..., the win not the beer.... Wink

Talking of Fosters they still have the best all time tv ad for me - a couple of oz chaps outside a shop loading up their rusty old pick-up with crates and crates and crates of beer until the wheels are about to pop - finally they load on 2 bottles of sherry at which point the wheels really do give up the ghost and the axles collapse - at which one of the guys turns to the other and says in a matter-of-fact way > " think we overdid it on the sherry for sheila there mate...." lol

Hahah the ad sounds good. We don't actually see many Fosters ads here because no-one drinks it. Its mainly sold for export. There's an old saying about it here: I can't understand how they get the cat to squat over the can!

As for the cricket.. bah humbug. They play way too many meaningless one-dayers anyway! Smile

Ok, I don't want to sound rude here or spoil the cadence of this thread, but I have read everything you guys have said and 90% of the cricket talk is literally gibberish to me.

It sounds like a bum with no teeth on the street telling me about stock advice. Wink

Haha Slim, now you know why the blank face when someone talks baseball or basketball to a Brit Thinking To us basketball is simply a game for tall people, ie if you are tall you are good, if you are small then what?!? and baseball? I shall say no more..

However in the spirit of entente cordiale here are the '100% simple to understand' rules of cricket:

You have two sides, one out in the field and one in.
Each man that’s in the side that’s in goes out, and when he’s out he comes in and the next man goes in until he’s out.
When they are all out, the side that’s out comes in and the side that’s been in goes out and tries to get those coming in, out.
Sometimes you get men still in and not out.
When a man goes out to go in, the men who are out try to get him out, and when he is out he goes in and the next man in goes out and goes in.
There are two men called umpires who stay out all the time and they decide when the men who are in are out.
When both sides have been in and all the men have out, and both sides have been out twice after all the men have been in, including those who are not out, that is the end of the game!

Ok? Thinking Party Silent

In and out, in and out...

If I could actually watch the game I am sure I would pick up on it more, but I have sadly not been able to watch much of a game before.

The one time I watched it I thought, "Oh, OK, I think I could get it".... but then I had to pee and I forgot what I was watching.

I agree with you on basketball though. Baseball is good, but my sports rankings (best to worst) are:

Ice Hockey, American Football, Soccer, Baseball, Everything else, Basketball.

Thanks for the heads up on the rules.

Joking Joking Joking Cry

I am still laughing at that post yellowboots. I've seen it before but its so very funny. I can imagine slim sitting there unable to make head or tail of it wondering if its meant to be serious or not.

Basketball was probably a much better game years ago when the ring was way higher than they thought anyone could jump. My solution to make it better - raise the ring about 2 metres and make it smaller.
