Casino bonuses worth the hassle?

7 replies • Last post

Hi guys - are casino bonuses worth the hassle?

Let me explain a bit: with such silly goals to achieve (deposit 100 - get 200 etc) it can be quite attractive for extra play, however you can't withdraw anything until you fulfill the bonus requirement, which for a given bonus can be 2000. So in reality you have virtually no chance of withdrawing money while playing?

am I missing something?

gratitude above all else.

In most cases the answer is NO. Most casinos set wagering requirements to be high to force you to continue playing long after you have registered a win. This smooths out the short term variance that can be in your favour and, as the casino holds the edge over players, it means you have less chance of winning by claiming the bonus.

We cover the scenarios in our beginners guide to bonuses here. The second section talks about the drawbacks and this is the most relevant part:

Quote:

Although everyone's risk tolerance and appetite for bonuses are different, you should consider the following questions before claiming a bonus:

- Do you prefer to be able to stop playing and withdraw immediately after hitting a big win?
- Do you want to be free to play any game of your choosing, particularly table games?
- Do you often play with a big variance in the size of your bets in a single session?
- Do you dislike the idea of being forced to play for longer than you want in order to withdraw?

If any of the above apply to you, then we highly recommend that you do not claim a bonus.

Thanks for the valuable advice. I thought on the contrary casinos will be lured by bonuses and bonuses can win more. Then you will be drained for real money. In Canada in general with this is difficult, I found a few guides like spamspamspamspamspam where there are lists of top casinos and similar to it, is it worth it to trust and invest. That was part of my question.

I agree a lot with Ed on this one i must say , ive regretted a number of times where i would chose to get a bonus. with a stupid x35 wager or sometimes higher and i would win a 1000$ in the wagering and there is usually a max payout which ruined so many amazing wins for me so i would always stick to cash, unless your looking to more so stretch out your session then i understand why youd want to double or triple your bankroll to play

Come on mate, we aren't stupid. We know exactly what you are trying to do here. Stop it. Can't you see that it isn't working?

Just throwing in my opinion on bonuses here. I don't like them, and never attach my own money to any wagering requirements, ever. Some people enjoy the challenge of getting through the wagering requirements.
Me, I can't stand all the rules, the terms and conditions, the restricted wager amounts, and withdrawal caps. Not to mention the game restrictions that some casinos have seem longer than the game list that's available to play with bonus money. My recommendation would be to not play with deposit bonuses. Don't give the casino an even bigger advantage against you.
