Huge outage affecting Bovada, Ignition, Slots.lv, Cafe Casino

9 replies • Last post

Anyone else following the ongoing debacle with all these huge sites being down? All have been down for over 24 hours with the sites claiming a failed server upgrade while some customers are worried about a hack or something equally nefarious. Super pissed customers responding to the sites' update tweets.

If it truly is a failed upgrade, I can't fathom how bad they f'ed everything up to not have adequate backups and alternative plans. Insane that such a monumental failure is possible. It's interesting to follow though.

Hmm maybe it's a DDOS attack? That would explain why those sites are being down for so long.

They look to be back now. We don't have any info on the outage. If it was a failed upgrade I feel for their IT guys because they are going to be in for a world of hurt.

Yeah I'm curious as to what was the reason for them being down for so long. Definitely it had to be a good reason, I'm sure it made big losses.

Anyone else get a rewards credit as compensation for the outage? I received $100 with a 1x playthrough requirement (turned it into $140).

That's a nice reward! Congratulations Matthew, and since I don't play there, no reward for me 🙂

Unlucky 👎

I'm not exactly sure why I was given so much...players with much higher VIP status than me received as little as $30.

I did make the conscious decision to create a support ticket during the downtime asking if there was something wrong with my account (even though I knew the site was down due to "update issues"). I figured that Ignition would issue compensation to impacted players and calculate the reward using various activity metrics, possibly including customer support.

I don't buy the official explanation for the downtime. I think their database/servers were compromised by the Log4j Log4Shell vulnerability and attacked with ransomware.

That is a good guess, you may well be on the money there.

I got nothing from them myself. But to be fair I haven't played there for a while.
