Casino Tournaments on Bovada/Ignition are a scam

7 replies • Last post

On Bovada they have daily "tournaments" where you can win small prizes but what they don't tell you is that you're competing against players on Ignition too. No where on either site do they let you know that. So for example you might finish 4th in a tournament on Bovada but because 2 of the players ahead of you are playing on Ignition you lose out. When it comes to those daily tournaments Bovada and Ignition are running a scam so they don't have to pay out those bonus rewards. Same thing is happening at Slots.lV/Cafe Casino since they run the tournaments too and have the same schedule. So Slots.LV/Cafe Casino and Bovada/Ignition are all scamming people who play those daily tournaments. Beware and save your money.

Loads of casino groups have run tournaments that are shared across multiple casinos for years. For example Microgaming and WGS casino groups. I used to play daily tournaments that the English Harbour group shared across their casinos, and many times I entered the same tournament multiple times from different casinos. In fact I'd go so far as to say that it is the normal way that they are run just about everywhere.

This is the first time I've heard anyone complain about it and I don't see how it is a scam. I understand that you're expecting them to pay out a separate set of prizes per casino. They could do that but then you would expect the prize pools to be cut into quarters or whatever at each casino. On the other hand different casino "skins" run by the same operator on the same platform are for all intents and purposes just the same casino accessed through a different website.

Have you tried entering the same tournament more than once from different casinos? That way it doesn't really matter and you have more of a chance to hit a winning run on one of your accounts. Obviously you would need to check if that is allowed. But I assume that since you think they are trying to hide that they are shared that they would not prevent you from doing so, because if they did it would disclose that they are in fact shared.

Because up until 3 weeks ago it wasn't like that. Each site paid out top 3 like it said it would but then switched with no notice. Now they pay out 3 spots instead of 6. I get it, they are unregulated and can do whatever they like. But imagine you didn't know Bovada and Ignition were the same. You keep finishing 3rd, 4th, 5th in a tournament but then find out you were competing with players on a different site which prevented you from getting a bonus prize. Most people would be pissed and think the sites are shady. I'm just informing people of the shadyness of those tournaments.

That's bad. How did you find out Bovada players compete against players at Ignition?

I like playing these tournaments and on Monday June 10th I noticed there were a lot more players than normal. I knew Bovada ran identical tournaments so I checked the results on that site and they were the same as Ignition. Been like that ever since so playing them now is pretty much pointless. Just a waste of money.

Oh man, I feel for you. That sucks!

On a side note, ButtBongoFiesta, are you by chance a Howard Stern fan? It was the first thing that clicked in my head when I saw your screen name. If so, BabaBooey to you sir!
