Many improvements in CasinoListings

38 replies • Last post

Hey, guys,

New Year is just around the corner.

For the last 4~5 months, I have been noticing many changes for improvement, some small and big, in Casinolistings website.
How about you?

Some design and interface changes, news reporters, and probaly mobile version, etc.

Could you tell more about it, before CL staff spill the beans ? πŸ™‚

Wow I am glad you noticed coolsongss. It sounds like we need to blow our own trumpet a bit more though!

I can tell you a bunch of things we have done. None of them were really big by themselves so probably we didn't feel the need to tell everyone when we did them, but they all add up after a while:

- New icons throughout the forums and site that scale to any size.
- A load of design tweaks to make things either load quicker or be more readable.
- A whole load of fixes to make the site work better on mobile phones, including adding the full site menu and search to mobile.
- New bonus buttons on review pages that show even more information about each bonus. We simplify and show the important stuff like wagering requirements and cashout limits that almost every review site and casino tries to hide. We're still working on doing more in this department too.
- We upgraded our internal site search engine behind the scenes to be quicker and to return more relevant results.
- Some more behind the scenes anti-spam stuff to keep the bad guys away, or at least make sure you all don't see their relentless attempts to post their spam here.
- We expanded our news team to cover more stories from around the world.
- And last week we just launched a brand new layout on the news page that makes it look more modern and interesting, with some of the most common story categories highlighted.

There is probably more but I can't think of anything right now. My memory is getting worse as I get older! πŸ˜‰

All that probably costed you a lot of time and effort Ed, but we can see the result..well at least for some of those.. cause honestly I didn't noticed some of the changes, but good job πŸ‘

I like the changes, especially since I can access everything using only my mobile phone, so every improvement on that end of things is awesome. Do you have anything more in the works for the near future we can look forward to CL-Ed ?

Uh yeah a few things but nothing earth shattering. We've just been tweaking little things here and there to make the site more polished and easy to use.

I'm glad you like the improvement on mobiles, we spent quite a while trying to get that slide up menu working just right with all the options accessible that you can normally see on the full sized site. If you see anything that doesn't work or look right on your mobile just let us know in the bugs thread.

Mobile version is very nice.

What I liked much is the flying bats or pumpkin icons during Halloween time πŸ˜€
Maybe with some sound effect, too?

The small bats flied across the screen, so cute that I really wanted to catch them with my mouse, hahaha.

Oh yeah I forgot about that one. You're the first person who mentioned it so I am glad at least someone noticed! Maybe we can put together some other stuff like that for special dates.

Yeah, the news section does look better on the front page...but it's tougher now for me to navigate among the older articles...as I could see only the recent ones initially...not a serious issue really, I find a way but maybe if there's a new readers here you'd want them to see a button for the older articles separated by a month or just 1,2,3.. and so on pages menu...just a thought.

Yeah its a fair point but looking at the usage of the site it didn't look to us like anyone really navigated through the old news articles. Most of the traffic through older stuff is via search (either outside like Google or our on-site search).

I'll see if we can do something on the main news page, but for now you can just click any news article then in the breadcrumb bar along the top of the page (scroll down a bit to make it appear) or near the bottom of the page after the article, you can click on the links to either the month or year and you'll go through to our regular archive pages that list all the old articles. Like in this picture:

I've just saw it now ,good job Ed πŸ‘

I've almost felt guilty now for mentioning that which probably took a bit from your time to set that but I still think it could be of a good use to some for the new arrivals and why not for some of us too, it won't be of any harm at least I guess.

Oh, there is another big important change.

Now, you can write comments as many as you want, but you can get the CL coins only up to 10 coins!!!
It automatically stops at 10 coins per day πŸ™‚

This comment won't be counted for CL chips, sadly πŸ˜€

Ha-ha...next time it will count coolsongss... πŸ˜‰

It's always been that way..since our Thai friends succeed to pissed off anyone around here...apart for Ed maybe...he's really a patient guy... πŸ˜‰ ...if he still doesn't banned me for example 😜

But yeah, you could comment as much as you like outside the 10 posts that will count daily...there's a good point in that I think.

I'm not sure I agree with you guys on that one, I like the option of scrolling through the news that includes in each a headline and a few lines of that article, unless I'm missing something, from the mobile version I just get to choose from the title of each piece shown on my screen as a list .

Here's an idea, not sure if its doable or if the amount of use would even be there to make this worth having, but what about a live chat feed, in real time. So whoever is online can chat back and forth, or if someone comes just looking for answers they could throw a question on there. Whoever was online at the time could try to help out the best they can.

You see I'm not much of a computer wiz lol I know my way around but I have no clue at all how much work would have to be put into an idea like that to make it happen, but if it's as simple as 1, 2, 3 , then I'd say give it a month long test, to see how much traffic it gets.

Yeah, I've liked scrolling down the news too but the thing is (I suppose) it has a quite more modern look now and you still can scrolling down the news once you've clicked on the last month or for the past or current year news man.

I think it's generally a good idea..any kind of sites implemented live chat over the past few years but it would also mean that Ed would have to hire people to cover that 24/7 which I guess would be the tougher part.

Yes as sharpe said, this is not something new. The limit has always been in place since we had some people who tried to post 100+ inconsequential comments every day for a week just for the chips.

I probably shouldn't ask you that (cause it could might pissed you off Ed, but anyway I'm going to πŸ™‚ ), but do you think the daily comments limit could be raised for the users who have over 1000 comments let's say i.e for those who's supposedly been of some contribution over the years to let's say 15 comments a day or in some other way...let's say those who have reached 1000 comments - limit raised to 11, 2000-12, 3000-13 and so on...you get my point I guess?

We would love to be treated like a VIP's here πŸ˜€ 😜

Good suggestion. I think its an "all or nothing" limit at the moment but let me see what it would take to change that.

I really like the improvements on this amazing site, the use of using mobile is perfect for me, smoother and much easier navigation, thanks for your hard work cl-ed in this case, but there are obstacles for me in accessing casino listings, in the last few months I have had difficulty browsing this beloved site, there was a problem loading the site, I thought there were parties who blocked accessing the CL page, and finally I was forced to use a VPN so that I could access the site, was there anything that could make me free access CL without using a VPN, please advise

Hmm that is interesting Eljuno. There is nothing that we have done that should be blocking the site from where you are.

All I can think to ask is:
- Did you ever see any error messages? (If it happens again please take a screenshot so we can see)
- Does the Indonesian government have any kind of website blocking system in place?

I don't understand anything about the internet and I don't know what to do when I have problems using the internet, that's the page I load when I don't use a VPN,
- Yes, it's really cl-ed, lately I've found lots of online casino sites that are very difficult to access, I don't know if it's done by the government or the site in question, and I'm pretty sad because some casinos that have good reputation we cannot access, such as videoslots, bet365, omni casino, casino las vegas, and many more

Hi, Eljuno, you are having problems to get access to casinos.

It is good for you to be able to use VPN.

And you might try a certain mobile application.

Here is a related link :
https://www.casinolistings.com/forum/gambling/online-casinos/35928/dns-s...

In Google Play or Apple store, you type in 1.1.1.1 (or DNS 1.1.1.1), then you will find a program named 1.1.1.1 by Cloudfrare.

It is very easy to use.

I hope that this application will be helpful for you.

That error is a "time out", which means your browser gave up waiting for our server to respond to your request to load a page. I looked up our server stats and the average response time from servers across the Asia Pacific region is under 1 second so I doubt there is an issue on our end.

It could be due to being blocked, or maybe some kind of networking error between your computer and our server. The fact that you can use a VPN successfully tends to support this.

You are right cl-ed, I feel that there is a government that has banned from several or even many sites related to online gambling, even all types of crimes according to the government that are run or through online are now a serious concern for the government
Β but I also have a little suspicion with a rather "mischievous" local casino that intentionally reports the names of international online casino sites to prohibit people from playing on the reported sites, while in the local market more local casinos are popping up with the same character but various names, like the casino rewards group ... But I don't know the exact truth ...
