The Annoying Change in the RTG Game Platform

7 replies • Last post

If you are like me, you multitask. For example, you can be playing an online game and have to get a phone call. Sometime, you may be sending an email or writing a note while waiting for a particular RTG game to finish downloading.

Up until two weeks ago, everything was fine. However, after an update, the RTG game platform now automatically takes control of your mouse and keyboard even if you were in a different program, once a particular game has finished downloading. Sometime, the result can be really annoying.

For example, the other day, I was playing between $2.00 and $2.50 per spin. As I was waiting for the game to finish downloading, I began typing in the Windows notepad. When the game finished downloading, it started to play. Apparently, when I pressed the space bar while I was typing in the notepad program, the RTG game decided to assign my space bar command to the RTG game instead once the download was completed. As a result, without my input, the game played one round using a $0.20 bet that was somehow set previously and won a bonus of $40. I was planning on setting my bet to $2.00 to play the game.

Therefore, if you are like me, you don't want a program in your computer to take over your mouse and keyboard without your input. I looked in the games to see if there are options to disable that behavior, but there were none. I hope they change that. If a program takes away control of your computer functions without your input, in the United States, there are cases where lawyers have argued that that software was behaving more like a virus

I didn't notice it, mostly I don't do anything else while playing slots in RTG, except capturing some screenshots Smile

I haven't noticed this as well but I have to say I don't play much RTG slots lately. I used to with freebies, but not that much with deposits. Well atleast you didn't lose money, imagine if the system would have increased your bets and you'd lose all your balace not even knowing it? This is different, but so many times I've opened Twin Spin slot and started autoplay without changing bet and then understanding that I've played with 1.25€ bets instead of 0.25€ and lost money. But in general that's really annoying, I agree.

That's a very wise way of looking at it. That's true, things could have been much worse. Thanks, blck.

Yes, the space bar will make the game spin, even if your cursor is not on the spin button. This is NOT true in casinos like Miami Club, only in RTG casinos. I use the space bar to spin quite often. However, I never thought about what would happen if I was typing and using the space bar for another function. Especially when I hadn't started the game yet. Thanks for the caution - I will now be careful if I decide to multitask.

Exactly! in this case you may have won it, but in general softwares shouldn't decide for you!

Ugh, that is annoying. I've never had it happen to me, but I can see how that would happen to others. Thank goodness you came out ahead, but in the future I'd make sure to close all other windows first.

If that is true and the software is responding to the keyboard even when the window is not focused then it is a bug bordering on malware and should be fixed. Imagine you were typing your internet banking password in to another window and it was registering those keyboard presses in the casino application. That is not on.

However I doubt that is what happened. I think what is more likely to have happened is that while you were typing in notepad, the casino software "grabbed" the focus when a download completed and made itself the active window. And that is why the space bar triggered the spin. That sort of behaviour is annoying and they should fix it either way.

Always play it safe! Consult our list of rogue casinos and warnings before depositing.
