Trop NJ on-line blackjack inquiry.

3 replies • Last post

I e-mailed "the wizard of Odds" with my question and he suggested that I reach out to this forum for further feedback to see if anyone else has been affected. Here goes;

I have been playing the NJ regulated & state approved Tropicana on-line blackjack game for over a year, having played well over ten thousand, (pLus) hands-always using "perfect" strategy. The customer service personnel and hosts are terrific. They always pay all valid withdrawals very quickly. The rules are terrific for the player, as compared to other on-line and "brick and mortar casinos". Now to my question/issue/problem;

My rate of winning is better than 50% of the hands that I play, which I would suggest comes from a combination of perfect blackjack strategy, favorable player rules & good luck. This win rate however only applies to bets of less than $100 per hand. When making the max table limit bet of $1,000, I would roughly estimate a win rate of about 15%. I typically lose and or push-10 hands or more in a row or perhaps winning two or three hands out of
15-20 hands played, (when making the max bet).

I have recently become familiar by The wizard of odds, with the understanding of a software program that "detects" large bets and changes the payback rate during those large bets, by "adjusting" the algorithm seed for the RNG. Please note that I am not being "sour grapes", only being diligent to confirm that the game is fair when making large bets. I must reinforce my position that CSRs and hosts are wonderful to work with and the valid withdrawals are expeditiously paid out. Losing ten hands in a row (or) more, does obviously occur on occasion, due to bad luck. My issue is strictly as it pertains only to "large bets".

If anyone else has had similar experiences with getting a very low win percentage (when wagering $500-$1,000 per blackjack hand), please advise.

Hi italiafour, welcome to the site.

That is very strange to hear, especially since New Jersey is regulated and all of the casinos have to have their software audited to ensure fair play. I notice that you said you have played over ten thousand hands using perfect strategy: how many of those have been at the maximum bet of $1,000?

I'd be interested to see what the stats are on those bets. I live in Michigan and haven't gotten to play in New Jersey yet, so I can't help you on previous experience. Does the Trop offer hand histories for your Blackjack games?

They do offer histories. As I said, their customer service and hosts are great. My best estimate of max bet made over all of my hands is probably less than 0.05 % of my hands. It is enough however, to see an uncomfortable pattern.

Hi italiafour, are you able to get a file containing your hand histories? If so, let me know and I'll give you an email address to send them through to. I believe that the Tropicana online site is run in conjunction with a company known as Gamesys, who run online casinos such as JackpotJoy and Virgin Casino. They aren't a fly by night group and I would be surprised if they were gaffing the games, especially for high rollers. It doesn't make sense to scare away your best customers like that. But stranger things have happened I suppose.
