What is the biggest amount you have lost while gambling?

16 replies • Last post

I just was reading Ubetcha's thread here about the gambling Mayor, and got to thinking: What is the biggest amount you have lost while gambling.

I thought that this question may have been asked before, but cannot find it on the forums here.

I have had some big one chip losses, but nothing overall that would ruin the experience for me.

How about you? What have you dropped in a session of play.

Oh, and here is Ubetcha's thread: http://www.casinolistings.com/forum/general/general-chat/18519/one-of-bi...

I never bet more than I can afford to loose, rule number one. Two there is only one ultimate winner and thats the casino. Thats why there in business. If everyone won they would go out of business lol.
I have lost like 300 dollars in one go. But you see folks that you just know ( at land casino's) are putting in too much, you can sort of see on the way they sit at a slot lol.

I bet you went home with what my brother calls "the brick in the gut" after losing like that. He thinks everyone has done that just once and the SMART (and not addicted-type) people do that ONLY once and learn from it. Others keep trying to win it back, putting then into a vicious cycle. It is my opinion that it is almost like a mental illness. But that is another conversation.

I am very strict with what I spend at the casinos. I have my very low budget for online, and I only go to the land maybe six times per year TOTAL. I bring what I can afford to lose, usually two to three hundy, because when I go, I usually stay at least one night, sometimes two (if two I REALLY have to take my time and make it last, taking lots of breaks).

I also justify my "donations," because I do not do much in the way of entertainment, otherwise. I don't go to bars or clubs or party or spend any money on an expensive hobby or other entertainment, so that is it.

That all being said, I don't believe I have ever lost over $300.00.

I now see you said "session of play" "Slim. That is impossible for me to say, because I can only give an answer over time or a casino visit. When I play blackjack, I only play thirty to fifty bucks and my Hold'em entry is 60 bucks, lol. So as far as a session, I can't answer it that way. I can only provide my above answer.

What about YOU, "Slim? I don't know Smile

I have gotten to the point where I had a decent balance built up, but not enough to make it worth withdrawing. That is when I decided to swing for the fences and play like a $75 hand of blackjack... and lost. Twice.

I have had it go the other way though. Easy come, easy go.

I never take much money to gamble. I am not a big gambler to begin with. Probably the most I've ever lost was $60.00. I usually only take $40.00 to play with. It usually lasts me several hours. I consider it entertainment money. We only go to the casinos 3-4 times per year.

I love that expression. What a fool. I thought everyone knew that carnival games are some of the most rigged and unfair games ever invented. Obviously not! At least he got a giant banana with dreadlocks!

The most I have lost in a single session is a couple hundred while chasing some bonus with insane blackjack wagering requirements.

It is kind of fun when you can play on THEIR money. I know my brother has done that, too, with blackjack and you are right: it can go both ways.

Lately, the most I will bring is $200.00 to the land casino. Last time I went, I was able to win a bit and play on their money. That is nice. I never take out of my household money, either. I have a little envelope where I collect when I come by "extra" money or bday money or whatever, then that is my treat. And, again, it depends upon how many days I am staying.

Yes, I believe that expression describes the feeling EXACTLY. lol I have spent more than I should when I first started going, and thankfully, that was long ago and never again. And I did not even go THAT much overboard like some do (and some walk around almost bragging about how much they are "down" for the day or two-day stay).

I like this question, because I never thought about how much I lost at a single session of play. I can see how it could get crazy in relation to blackjack, especially when splitting and doubling down and before you know it you have a huge bet up there.

On Jan. 1st, 2006 at about 10pm, I sat down to play Blackjack at Casino in South Lake Tahoe. Just before 5am, I rose and started the long walk back to the family cabin. During which I calculated my loses to be $9,823. Seeing as I could only find $177 in my Wristlet. Harrah's

Not one to worry or pout about a loss, and just 12 days after getting crushed. I joined my husband and his college buddies, for their annual MLK holiday trip to Las Vagas. For kicks, we stayed at old Tropicana in the Island Tower. Staying here is like stepping back into history. Especially, the corner suites which are x-large, and ooze the old Vagas Style, including a large grandmaster bathroom and a super-king size bed, complete with a mirror ceiling, headboard and sidewall. We arrived the evening of Friday the 13th, and since we prepaid for vip checkin . In a snap, we were having a cocktail and settling into our room for a bit. Then me, my husband and his best friend had a late dinner, before meeting up with the rest of the gang at Drai's for drinks and to hear Mark Farina to his thing! Very cool.....

By 2pm on Saturday I was refreshed and ready to play. I walked into Harrah's Diamond Vip room, at about 3pm, and scanned the room for the right Blackjack table. And from the very moment I sat down, until Monday late morning, it was magic. I played 2 long sessions, a 12 hour rush on Sat, then a 16 hour rush on Sunday. Plus a couple of quick hits hear and there. All said, when I boarded the plain for the quick hope back to SF, even after dropping $400 or so on slots at McCarran terminal. I was up $52,400. Well, less the $9,823, but still by far my biggest take.
