Land Slot Vs. Cyber Slot, Same Game: Who Wins?

6 replies • Last post

So we all know that the big boys out in the gambling world such as IGT and WMS have ported some of their most famous games to the internet (take Da Vinci Diamonds as an example).

If you were given the option of playing the game at a casino, or playing the exact same game at a computer and setting of your choosing (assuming you had internet), what would you want to play?

I myself think that if a game were made available both online and in land based modes that I would choose the cyber version. Maybe it goes down to my preference of staying out of a smoky casino, but I think I would just enjoy it more.

Sure, hitting the jackpot in public would be incredible, but I also wouldn't want to deal with a lot of the ruckus and stuff that comes with it. When I win, I want it to be done semi-modestly.

What say you?

If I could play my favorite land--casino games online, I would choose to play them online 99% of the time. I sometimes use the machines to take a five or ten minute break after doing some work, or I play on the week end for a "treat." Everything would be at my convenience, and I wouldn't have to spend a portion of my bankroll on the gas to get to the land casino, either.

I typically go to the land casinos only once every three to four month, and usually only when I am invited by one of my friends or my brother, so that would probably stay the same.

I would like both. There are times when I want to be at the casino, other times I don't want to get dressed to go out. I would probably like playing at home more.

Slim, we don't have smoking in any public buildings here in Illinois. That was one reason I didn't frequent the casinos back in Ohio more. The smoke made me sick.

The funny thing is that I like to smoke fine cigars and the occasional pipe (not the wacky stuff). I just can't tolerate other people's smoke. I do it in my backyard away from others to keep from being "that guy".

I do like land casinos, but I gotta say that I also love my internet casinos. Hard choice but I have to give that edge to cyber.

All of our land casinos are owned by Native Americans, so those are the only places in the state where people can still smoke indoors. If we ever get a state run casino, there would be no smoking. And how I wish we would, because the state could really use the money, and I think one is long over due.

Canterbury Downs. our horse track, has card rooms, and they were thinking of pushing for slots. But Mystic Lake and Little Six, that are right down the road from them bought them out. They must have paid a pretty penny, because now Canterbury will never have slots. But I heard Running Aces will not take the buy out and is pushing for a "Racino."
