Favorite Type of Poker?

15 replies • Last post

I think I have spoken recently about my growing love of three card poker. I also have a growing interest in Hold Em and am curious as to what your favorite poker game is.

Mine is a toss up between those two games. On the one hand I love playing against just the dealer, but I also get a kick out of fleecing people for their hard earned chips. I guess it really depends on my mood.

How about you?

Texas Hold'em by a long shot. I love the suspense, and I love bluffing people, online and off. 🙂 I really miss it, and you make me miss it more and want to get back to you.

Are you playing at Bovada or did you find another place to play, 'Slim?

I latched on at Carbon Poker as the Bovada software kept crashing on my Mac for some reason. If they can get it working well for me, I'd definitely take advantage of playing there.

Do you like Carbon, though? I don't think I ever played there. I used to play at Full Tilt (yeah, lol) and Party Poker, I think it was. But only Bovada for a long time now, but i haven't played there for a while either. I will have to play some poker later in the spring when I can deposit a little. I am on hold for deposits for a while. lol

I was on a bit of a Razz kick for a while a few years back. I had never heard of it until I found it online at Full Tilt. Its a cool game though and you almost always get some tight hands in it.

Always play it safe! Consult our list of rogue casinos and warnings before depositing at a new casino.

I have never heard of that either. Is it a type of poker game?

Yes it is a lowball poker game where the player with the worst hand wins. Straights don't count so the best hand in the game is A-2-3-4-5 which is called the wheel. You get 3 cards on the deal, with one played face up. Then you are dealt another card face up and 3 more face down if you stay in the hand. You make the worst 5 card hand out of the 7 you are dealt.

Whoa man, that sounds like it was made for me. I would love to find this razz. I wonder if any land based casinos offer this, or if it is a strictly online deal.

Sometimes you can find it as part of a mixed HORSE game (Hold'em, Omaha, Razz, Stud and whatever the E stands for). But apart from that I think it is pretty rare at live casinos.

That sounds very interesting! The lowest hand winning. I have to laugh at the name, because in one of my son's comedy bits, he talks about being "razzed," lol (sorry, off topic here, lol). Trying to get the WORST hand sounds like a fun twist.

With three card poker, is there any set strategy guide for it? I know the Wizard of Odds always has good stuff, but I haven't made it over there recently.

I usually fold my initial bet unless I have some form of royalty. Is this a good strategy or am I goofing this game up?

3 Card Poker is very simple - always raise if you have a Q64 or better hand.

Countless hours spent on Texas Hold'em with friends. I think only Bridge beats it for me.

Welcome andreas87!

What do you like best about Hold'em? Is it the out thinking other players? The thrill?

I have never played Bridge. Can you play that online at a casino?

My mom is a very good Bridge player. She plays with friends and she has the software to play on her computer. She is 84 years old and still winning the pot oftentimes, lol.

Thanks for the welcome!

To be honest I don't think I ever saw Bridge offered at an online casino so I'm not sure if you can play it this way. Still, the experience of playing it in real is so great I don't know if I would even want to play on my PC 🙂 And I think it's similar with Hold'em. Definitely another real > online game for me, because when I think of those games i remember all the evenings spend with friends over a table! I never really played them seriously for money, so I guess the feeling of kicking my friends ass was the main incentive 😂
