Mega Fortune jackpot shooting for the stars

9 replies • Last post

As I write this, Net Entertainment's Mega Fortune Jackpot sits at a staggering €17,524,070.
That is equivalent to:

USD $23,456,094
AUD $22,285,403
GBP £14,679,193
NOK 130,643,440
or 1,266,263,918 rupees if you live in India!

Just contemplate that for a second.

Such has been the volume of play on this game, it has doubled in value since November. When it is next won it will set a new world record for the biggest ever online casino jackpot win, surpassing itself in fact, as it was won last year for over €11 million.
Norwegian Man Wins Mega Fortune Jackpot Of €11,736,228

Will it pass €20 million?

Are tax rates dependent on the country in which it is won?

For example, if I win the lottery here, I would have to give up like 40% to taxes. Does this tax rate apply to the country in which the jackpot is won, or is it dependent on the casino (or operator's) home country?

Either way this is a huge life changer, but to have it diced up by taxes takes a bit of the shimmer away.

I can't wait to hear about who cracks this jackpot! It is always an interesting story.

Whoa.. since US players won't have a chance to play this mega fortune jackpot, why don't we pitch in here (say $20) send it and let someone play there..? Win or lose (hmm.. but winning is much better.. bwa-hahah). Btw, IF it's legal though..

PS. Gotta ask 'cause I got the nerve.. 😉 🙂

I don't know the answer to the tax question. I assume it would be the country of the player receiving payment. However I suspect there would always be the option of moving house to a tax haven for a few years to receive the money. For that amount it would be worth it!

Interesting idea UBetcha... would you trust the person enough to pay you if you won?

Well there you go ... it popped at €17,860,868 a few hours ago. We'll have to wait and see where it was won and who the lucky bugger was who won it!

Wow! At least someone is happy!

I bought a Powerball ticket AND MegaMillion this week, and I didn't even come close. I don't buy those very often, but I was feeling lucky, lol.

I hope they will report a story about it. I love living vicariously through the winners when I read the stories (that and calling them a few names under my breath first, haha j/k)

It looks like the winner is from Finland and was playing at Paf Casino.

Here's the news story for all interested: http://www.casinolistings.com/news/2013/01/punter-hits-17-8-million-euro...
