42 replies • Last post

I won $250 at Silver Oak Casino last month and Im finally receiving a check this week via fedex. I received an email from accounting...

Please keep in mind that once you receive the check it is to deposit ONLY, may NOT be endorsed under a third party name and this must be done within the first 30 days of the issuing date on the check.

Should you have any further questions or concerns please feel free to contact me back.

I am scared to death to take this check to my bank. Once before I received a check for winnings at another casino, took it to my bank and they said it was fraudulent. They kept the check and I felt like they have looked at me as a scam artist or such since then. Has anyone else deposited such a check from this casino and have had the funds paid once it was deposited?

Welcome MImi in indiana. I am hoping to receive my checks soon from a related casino and wow does this ever scare me. so you can only deposit it and what does that mean may NOT be endorsed under a third party name? I hope some of the CL_buddies on here have some answers and can shed some light on this.

I have never received a check from a casino, but I believe 'Slim has. Maybe he, or CL-Ed will bop in soon and answer this question for both of you.

Good luck! πŸ™‚

I have deposited a casino check before without issue, although the casino I received money from was reputable.

Silver Oak is a blacklisted casino here, so I would be extremely wary of them. Try to cash the check and see what happens, but I would hold onto the cash just in case something fraudulent happens so that you can cover the loss. Unfortunately it seems that after you were lucky enough to win once, you now have to gamble again to cash your winnings.

A review of Silver Oak can be read here: http://www.casinolistings.com/casinos/silver-oak-casino-review

I would recommend checking out other casinos listed on this website. There are lots of good ones here that you can feel safe about cashing checks from. I followed this site and have cashed paper checks without issue before.

Hope this helps!

πŸ€‘ well i received the check today and deposited it via the atm. When i got home i checked online and $100 of the $250 was available. Not sure why they didnt either clear the entire check or hold the entire check but Im positive so far it will clear and Ill have the full amount in my account within the next day or two.

Ill let you know.

By the way the check was drawn on a reputable bank in Milwaukee Wisconsin whereas the bogus check I received from another casino was some instituition overseas.

mimi it takes 1 business day for the check to clear. I like 3dice because they send the cash instead.

Good to know, mimi! That is great news, and I am very happy to you.

VPRF: What do you mean 3dice sends the "cash?" What type of withdrawal is that? Do you mean like Money Gram or Western Union or something like that? I am curious now.

Awesome to know you were even able to cash it at Walmart. Do you know they would not even take my LITTLE check I received from my last taste test through Food Perspectives? First time that EVER happened to me, they always cashed them before. I do taste tests through FP AND Consumer Surveys.

I had to go to the check cashing place that charged a fortune. Yet they cash the casino check. Toooooo funny!

It doesn't even have the casinos name on it. It is from an outsourcing company. I was kind of worried but that one went without a hitch πŸ™‚

I think I have posted this a few times, but I always find it funny how the checks the casinos send have so many different sources and shell companies linked to them... too funny.

Again, congrats on the check, and it is good to know that Walmart will cash them.

I thought you were the one that suggested it Slim because I hadn't even considered it but someone on here said that's what they had done. I still kinda felt like a criminal 😳 πŸ™‚

Don't you find it crazy that Walmart will cash a check from an online casino (and yes, I realize the casino name is not linked to the check), but they would no longer cash my checks from my taste testing places? And those checks are anywhere from 40 dollars to 75 dollars. lol! I was kind of angry with them, because I had to go to the check cashing place and pay a higher amount to have the check cashed. Very strange. They still cash my paychecks, at least.

I think next time I win big, I will try a check and see what happens. πŸ™‚

Glad you were able to cash your check without a hitch, LW, and Slim was able to provide us with this info. πŸ™‚

Yeah, I do find it funny. When I deposit you never know what it will show up as. I wonder how they do that? It is probably too complicated for me to think about, lol.

How come it always seems that people win at these shady casinos?

Are the numbers looser there than at legit spots?

LMAO, oh my gosh, 'Slim, you read my mind! I was thinking the same: at least I would WIN even if I had to wait a long time to get paid.

What I think it is, and CL-Ed can correct me if I am wrong, is that we actually HEAR about more wins at these places, because people have more to complain about and seek help for than if they win at a legitimate casino. People don't tend to report when they get a prompt payout for a nice win, although I wish more would! Am I right?

Took for ever when I won at Silver Oak but I did get a cheque. Also from Grand Parker so why does everyone say they don't usually pay cheques?
Both send by either fed ex or ups. Getting money you win from a casino is a lengthy process but up to now I have got my two withdrawals I asked for. The only one I didn't was at Virtual Casino. They said I couldn't cause of some rule so I said fine and have never plyed there since. I know Silver Oak is blacklisted here but isn't that because of the earlier owners or something?

I think you're on the money with that observation hope. When people are happy they have nothing to complain about so you don't hear anything.

Silver Oak is ultimately owned by the same guy (criminal) that owns the Virtual Casino and related others. He bought them and a bunch of other casinos that used to be known as the Crystal Palace group after their previous criminal owner died of a heart attack at a young age in a case of karma coming back to bite.

Ok but do the reputable casino's not pay with cheques then?

Most of them have cheques as an option for U.S. players. However as banks are not supposed to allow gambling related transactions they must play a continual game of hide and seek by disguising the payments as something else. If they have their bank account shut down then they may stop offering cheques for a while, or you may get the situation where they have sent you one but you can't cash it because they have had the account closed.
