BlackJack: Don't you just hate it when.....

15 replies • Last post

.....you get a blackjack and so does the dealer, so the blackjack you finally got ended up in a PUSH? Yeah, I hate when that happens. lol Seems it happens ONLINE more than in real life.

What else do you hate when you play blackjack?

What are your best and worst runs/hands?

I hate when I draw a sixteen and its something like a 10-6 where I can't split.

I also hate when I put a larger than normal bet and end up getting a lame draw like a 14. This happens far more often than I want to admit.

I have lots more, but don't want to Bogart the thread. 😜

Don't worry about bogarting the thread, lmbo! (reminds of the song about bogarting something else, lol)

I used to not like Blackjack AT ALL, because it seems I always got the 13s and 14s and it drove me crazy. Now that I know more what I have to do, I am better now, but it did seem to happen a lot.

Another reason I never played is at the tables (land casino) it seems no matter how good it looked that I would win and impossible the dealer would win, I would always say it looked like the dealer puller a card out of his or her sleeve, lol, because the dealer would win. Then, I decided I must just have terrible luck, and now I am liking Blackjack again.

Thanks for the link VPRF! I usually have a strategy chart up while I play, which is why it is nice to play online. But being a relative newbie to blackjack, I will definitely check out those tips.

Don't you hate it when you are splitting 8s and another 8 pops up then you have a three-way split and you just start sweating? lol Gotta love the game. 🙂

nope, I always split 8's I tend not to worry. I never surrender, and never ever take insurance, I would take even money (situation in which you were dealt a black jack, dealer has ace up if I had a large sum of money, large sum meaning $500 or so).

I guess being a newbie and a lowroller, lol, it is still stressful for me. Exciting when it goes my way, though, of course.

I never take insurance or surrender, either. I think that was one of the first things I was told is not to take insurance.

The Wizard of Odds is a great place for strategy. They actually tailor their charts for every factor you can have in a blackjack game. It goes by the software, so make sure you match them up!

Stick to those charts no matter what, even if it seems like you lose when you play by the book. It is your best chance for walking out with a win.

Thanks for that, 'Slim (and VPRF). I am going to check out that link: for sure. I know it is when you go "with your gut" that you start to make mistakes, and the charts ARE the way to go. Again, that is why I like playing online. At the land casino they let you have a little chart card at the table, but I feel like an idiot using it, even though I shouldn't, lol.

Taking even money or paying insurance are mathematically identical. You should not do either of them!

I was just going to come here and say, "Don't you just hate it when the dealer gets TWO blackjacks in a row?" And RIGHT before I was going to do that, the "dealer" at Lucky Red got THREE blackjacks in a ROW! 😠 🧛 First time that ever happened to me. I mean, REALLY! 🤷 :'(

I have to add: Don't you just LOVE IT WHEN....

you split 8s THREE ways, and double down on one, then the Dealer busts. True story. lol (That just happened to me at Lucky Red). I love the excitement. I was sweating that one out.

Just about the best feeling in blackjack is when you make all the correct plays, you get dealt some crap cards, and you still come out on top. Like when the dealer has a 6 or a 5 and you split then double your way through 3 or 5 hands (I mostly play multi-handed) and end up with nothing better than a 14 or something.. and then they bust. Love it!

Yes, that is the perfect feeling, Ed. Doesn't happen enough for me, but it is awesome when it happens.

I hate it when someone critiques your play, even when you do the right thing, and then they do something stupid. So many backseat drivers out there. Drives me nuts.

I have found everyone at the land casinos to be really helpful, ....so far, even the dealers. I bet that changes if I were to go up to high stakes (which I never will). I HAVE seen when people get angry when someone joins the table, because they believe it will change their luck/play.

After that play at Lucky Red the next time I played the dealer must have received six or seven BlackJacks in the time I received ONE. I was talking out loud saying, REALLY? 🤷 lol I find if it is not going my way after a few hands I back out of there quickly, but that was ridiculous! 😢
