A rookie question about minor mini and major jackpots

3 replies • Last post

Okay so was @ buzzluck on crystal ball and the mini and major were going up like mad almost like when the random jackpots do in a tourney then all of a sudden they would go back to where I presume is the start point 1000 and 100. the minor just stayed at the same number the whole time. this starting back happened 4 times in an hour getting up to say 1020 plus change then back to 1000 and same with the mini. so does this mean someone was hitting these frequently or what and do you have to bet 5 bucks aroll to get the major or really is there a strategy or are they completely random no matter the amt you are playing?

Wow. I have never seen that happen. And I play mainly the type of games that are those like at Club World, Slot O'Cash, and Lucky Red, and almost all other casinos who accept players from the U.S. (I always have trouble remembering the names of the types of games, possibly RTG?). Anyway, you get the idea.

And I can speak to those, and I have never seen them fluctuate like that, I do not believe they would be hit that often. And you do NOT have to be betting max to hit majors and minors there, which is what I REALLY like. I absolutely cannot stand the games at the land casino that only allow the progressives to be hit by those betting max. Makes me angry. lol I hit a minor on the Lucky Tiger game betting the minimum for that game, which is 88 cents per spin, and I know there are others in the Perpetual Winners thread who have won majors, NOT better the max. So I can also speak to that, but puzzled by the fluctuation thing you noticed.

Maybe CL-Ed or someone else has an explanation for that?

I don't know why but I can guess.

When you play, the casino server sends a message to your software at regular intervals that contains the current jackpot values. It might be once a minute or every 30 seconds for example. In between those messages the casino likes to make it look like the jackpot is going up all the time so sometimes they show a ticker with the numbers rolling over, but this means the the exact value you are seeing is not always completely accurate. Perhaps they had a bug or something that was rolling the tickers over way faster than they should have been and then the values were being reset when the next message came through to you with the actual jackpot value.

Always play it safe! Consult our list of rogue casinos and warnings before depositing at a new casino.
