Pre-Loaded VISA Cards DO NOT Work For Online Gambling

17 replies • Last post

I wanted to post a long awaited update for those who were interested and having issues with casinos not taking MasterCard anymore and only accepting VISA.

I went and got my hands on a prepaid VISA for the purpose of online gambling. I myself needed this because all of my credit cards and debit cards linked to my real bank accounts are MasterCard, which more and more online gambling establishments will not accept.

I got my card from Walgreens and loaded it with $50. I then went and registered the card online with my name and tried hitting Legends to get my card to load money onto my account.

No luck. It was declined. I then tried Bovada.

Same result. Declined.

So far I am pretty pessimistic that this will work at any other online gambling establishments, but will keep trying to find a good spot. If you guys want me to try one for you, let me know and I will try it.

If your prepaid VISA has a "Green Dot" on it.. it won't work internationally.

FYI, I'm back! :\

Mine was a Vanilla prepaid card. I had heard they do work, but apparently not at any place I have tried yet. I will definitely stay away from the Green Dot.

Welcome back!

I have heard this before, so I have never tried. I think CL-Ed may have commented on this in another thread, but I can't remember the reasoning for why they won't work. If they DID plus use pay to card for withdrawals, it would be an ideal situation for me. Too bad. 😢

Slim,

I think what Ed said on another thread a while back is spot on. A lot of stuff that was ok before is becoming harder now - a mix of economic woes in general and presumably tighter financial regulations... Even where I am I have had a few things change in the last few months - for example I was using proxy servers to play with no problems - (I am in the Carib so online gaming 100% legal - but sometimes the standard internet link was via a server in the US which meant I was blocked from playing) - but now many of the casinos are not happy about this - I guess because big brother is cleaning up these 'grey areas' more and more, so that strategy is a no no for me.

Hope you get lucky and find somewhere that accepts the card & I will keep an eye on this link with interest!

👍

I use a Walmart Money Card (visa) . I just go to the cashier at Walmart and load any amount up $1000. Its the Gold one, you can also buy the Green Dot cards and load your Walmart Money Card at the Walmart Money Card website. It also a international Card. Hope this helps.

Ricky92, that is great advice. I actually think I will go try that as I have seen those at my local store. Thanks!

So, the Walmart cards work in the online casinos? I know my youngest son had a Walmart card for a while, and he even had his paycheck direct deposited onto that card. I would definitely try that, too, because my debit card only gets so much on it per week, and I cannot add money to it, only subtract, and sometimes I don't want to use it for the casinos.

Yes, curious minds want to know. 🤷

I would definitely do this if I know for certain it will work.

I've been really busy with some summer type stuff so I haven't tried this yet. Maybe this week during the holiday...

Do keep me posted. I am thinking of getting one of those cards anyway, for other reasons, so if it works, that would be icing on the cake. 😉 🙂
