Have you been to Las Vegas?

8 replies • Last post

Hello CL Friends!

I am wondering how many here have traveled to Vegas. When did you visit there. What casinos did you visit? Did you win?

I have friends that really enjoyed gambling in and visiting Laughlin, but i have never been there. Has anyone visited Reno or Laughlin? If so, which do you like best out of Vegas, Reno, or Laughlin?

Please share your experiences and what you like, and maybe dislike, about Vegas.

Thank you, everyone! 🙂

I have never been there but would love to go see all the lights and maybe play the slots for a little bit. I've heard they have great buffets which are cheap.

I was at Vegas years back, a month after 9/11. We stayed @ the Luxor Hotel. During that time, I was not really into gambling but played and won about $70 in quarters. There were lots of different things to try. We watched the Blue Man's Group, went to Red Rock Canyon, visited a celebrity house, wandered around the Vegas Strip and the fabulous grand hotels. I felt like 3 days was not enough. It was fun and I would like to go back someday soon.

I have heard the days of the cheap buffets are gone with the recession.Someone told me no more 99 cent shrimp cocktails or 99 cent margaritas or cheap buffets anymore. Maybe someone who had been there more recently than I can attest to this?

I will tell everyone about my ONE Vegas experience when I have time later. 🙂

Fun! I know what you mean about trying to fit everything in to a little bit of time there. We stayed at the Riviera. I will tell more about my visit soon, but I am heading out the door. We did many outdoor activities. LOVED the beautiful Red Rock Canyon, too. 🙂

I would love to hit Vegas sometime. I have seen that flights out there aren't too badly priced (as of right now), and that rooms at big casinos like Luxor go for $25-30 a night. That would make it worthwhile for me!

Hope, I know I would love Red Rock Canyon. Those are some super cheap rooms. Looking forward to hearing about your adventure Hope.

You are all correct the flights and rooms are good deals. I just heard that everything else is getting more expensive, as with everything else in life. I would just LOVE to go again, now that I actually enjoy gambling a bit.

When I went, I went with the man who I had my last long-term relationship with. We traveled a lot for business and pleasure. I did not gamble much, because in his previous relationship, his wife of 25 years had wiped him out, due to gambling losses! I did not want to make a bad impression, lol, so I gambled little. I did okay on a quarter, and also a nickel, machine, getting my first taste of how fun it can be to win. 🙂

My significant other and I traveled a lot, for both business and pleasure, and this was a business trip for him. Since it was very cold in Minnesota during the month of October, we spent as much time outdoors as we could, versus in the dark, smoky casinos. While he attended his business expo by day, I laid by the pool in 80-degree weather, in my bikini and enjoying my 99 cent shrimp cocktails and 99 cent margaritas, lol. He made sure we had some time to explore other parts of Vegas together.

We stayed at the Riveria, as I said, with a nice view of the Stratosphere. We attended as many of the free, little shows as possible, but we did not attend any paying shows. Shows like they put on at Circus Circus casino every hour or so, the one in front of the Pirates of the Caribean casino, and the "parade around the bar" at the off-strip hotel The Rio, where I have always wanted to go back to and stay (it's so beautiful there, with a nice wine cellar and wine-tasting room, sand bottom shell-shaped pools and the wonderful, yummy seafood buffet that we indulged in). I could not imagine the parade around the bar until I saw it. They truly go "all out" out there!

We also went to the top of the stratosphere, and we went to the old part of town, then to Fremont Street where they have the enclosed blocks with a light show above you. Really cool! We also traveled to Red Rock Canyon (and yes, LM, you would love it!), to Hoover damn and did the tour there and we went to the marina where there are tons of carp; they say there are so many the ducks walk on their backs and they were not kidding, lol! We threw them popcorn, and I have photos of them coming up with their giant mouths open in anticipation.

I have a photo of me standing in Lake Mead in my bikini, lol, with the mountains behind me: such a pretty site (the mountains and lake, not me in the bikini, lmbo!). It was such a nice, warm day with the sun always shining, and the water was actually warm! We talked about going back, someday, and doing a houseboat trip, but well, those days are over now, lol.

I think it was the M and M place we also toured, and I am certain I am forgetting a lot of things, but that is enough now anyway (blabberfingers, lol). So, that is my Vegas experience.

Now that I have seen all the outdoor sites, I could now concentrate on sitting in the dark, smoky casinos and winning my first million. haha! 😉

Yes, as much as I would like to see new places, and among them Reno and Laughlin, I would also really like to go back to Vegas. Maybe someday......😉 I will have to win an online huge jackpot, then use that to finance my way back to Vegas, lol!

Oh, and I am not sure what year it was, but they were just building Paris, Paris, then and i could see the outline of that building. Had to be late nineties, in general.
