What Attracted You To Online Gambling?

33 replies • Last post

I have to admit, I got bit by the online gambling bug last year. I found it a hassle to go out to the land based casinos (the nearest is about 40 minutes from my house) as it was cold outside and snowy. I saw a great offer at a casino and thought I would check out reviews of that casino.

I ended up coming here and found out the casino was on a rogue list, so I tried another casino, High Noon and used the free chip. I was hooked. I loved the graphics, the ease, and tournaments that were offered with little to no obligation.

What got you guys started with online gambling? What do you like about it?

I love the graphics at the online casinos. I like that they have free tournaments. I like that they are convenient. The bonuses are great in that it allows me to get a feel for the casinos and games. I can play as I am, no need to get all dressed up or fill the car up for a 30-45 minute drive one way. I don't have to deal with people trying to play the same machine that I want to play. I don't have to deal with crowds or rude, sneezing, manner-less people. 🙂

I joined online gambling because I won good money at the land casino. And it's definitely convenient playing at home while wearing my favorite pj's.

I've been playing the fun games look-a-like-casinos and tourneys on Facebook for a while. It gradually change to being hooked because of getting free chips free spins, massive bonuses or no deposit at all great deals. So I thought I would give it a try.

Yes, the graphics are fascinating and the theme of each game are amazing concept!

And of course, for the love of 🤑 ! 😜 😀 😂

When I first tried slots online, I did not like it. Then I got hooked on Texas Hold'em. I think that a poker question may have brought me here? After trying out some of the casinos with the free chips, I started enjoying it more. I didn't think it would be the same, but I loved the variety of the games, and I always seemed to last longer than at the land casinos. PLUS the price of gas has a lot to do with wanting to stay in the comfort of your own home. Since playing online, I take fewer trips to the land casinos.

Online gambling is far more convenient for me because I do not have to visit land-based casinos just so I could play slots and other games. I didn't have to spend much of my time outside and I can just stay inside my home, in front of my PC as I wish! 🙂

Haha, you sound like Charlie Sheen.

I actually am finding the more that I have gambled online, the more I like about it. I like the ability of the online gambling community to help others in finding deals, I like the games better, I like the fact that nobody hassles me to drink while I gamble, and I don't have to deal with smoke.

It's just a much better atmosphere to play games in to be honest. I am loving it.

We have non-smoking casinos here so that's not a problem. We also have a self serve beverage center so I don't hear those women coming by very often. My boyfriend did have a woman who almost ran into him and he was standing still. That is not good for a person with a shoulder injury.

Yeah, not good to have someone run into you when injured.

Maybe I am just a jerk, but I would rather play by myself than go deal with some of the monsters that I see out at the casino. At least I don't need to take a shower when I get back.

Haha @ taking a shower when you get home.

I enjoy the land casino, but ONLY in very small doses. I would get sick of it if I went to often. And I think I get amnesia between visits, because I never win, yet always want to go again after a few months, lol. I now will only go when I can spend the night and enjoy the hotel, the pool and hot tub and take my time gambling. If I start to lose, I can take a break. If I go up for a day, I feel like I have to hurry and play all my favorite machines. I get free room offers all the time in the Hinkley Gazette, and I would say I go once every two to three months, when my brother or my friend invites me.

I live only 30 minutes from two other popular casinos, but now when I get the bug really bad, I make a deposit online instead. I figure I am depositing what I would pay in gas just to get to the land casino, and I can play longer on my funds.

Our casinos have little non-smoking sections, but I feel sorry for the non-smokers, because they don't have many machines in those sections, so most just put up with the smoke. I am a VERY light smoker, so the smoke even bothers me when it is heavy. I don't like smelling like it, either.

They have been talking about putting a non-Indian casino in downtown Minneapolis (Indians still have total control of casinos in my state), and that one would be completely smoke-free due to state regulations that the Indians do not have to follow. I wish they would get their butts in gear and just DO IT! lol

Yes, online gambling does have many advantages.

You should come down to Australia and try a casino here. You can't smoke in any any building pretty much anymore, casinos included. The only exception is the high rollers room at the casinos because apparently the billionaires from Asia won't fly in and play unless they can chain smoke while they play baccarat for 50k a hand. There was an article in the paper the other day about some people trying to get that exception removed but the casinos are fighting it tooth and nail.

Always play it safe! Consult our list of rogue casinos and warnings before depositing at a new casino.
Post in our forums to earn CLchips which can be used to buy real prizes in our CLchips shop.

Well, as we all know, CL-Ed, money talks.

Here is it is the different rules applying to the Native American run casinos who do not have to follow the rules of the state of Minnesota. So...the entire state is now smoke-free (which actually has only been since the last few years, MN was a little late to the smoke-free regulations game) with the ONLY exception being the casinos. Smokers love it, especially in our freezing cold winters, because it is the last place they can smoke indoors. lol

Funny story: when the new smoke-free regulations were put in place here, there was a loop hole in the way the law was written that said smoking was allowed for those putting on some type of theatrical production.. Some bar owners/bartenders were actually passing out scripts at the bar, so customers could sit and read them and "play" their part/role while.....you guess it! Smoking! lol Where there is a will there is a way. I think they quickly changed the wording of the law to cover up that loop-hole, but I thought it was quite funny. Whoda thought?

I don't usually have time to travel to a land-based casino, although I love the atmosphere there. When my friend showed me an online casino I decided to try my luck. I didn't like it at first but in the course of time I got used to it. And now I can't imagine my life without online casinos!!! 😉

My wife told me that I had to give up gambling because she hates it. But it's my favourite leasure activity. So I started gambling online and instead of spending 4h on driving to a land-based casino I spend this time with my wife and children.

of course she doesn't know 😉 she hates gambling! So I play online when she meets her friends or goes shopping - you know, it takes her hours to buy a lipstick 😉
She can't understand that I'm not addicted to gambling. I just like this form of entertainment. And I don't lose much money. I know I shouldn't have secrets. But who doesn't have them? 😉

In all honesty.... 😇

I did not know how a slot machine worked until Feb 2011 (last year)
My new BF @ the time got me to meet him @ a land casino... 8)
While I was waiting for him with my friends --- 🚬
i walked into a smokers section put a couple of ZAR into a machine.

Had absolutely no clue what was happening... pushed a few buttons.. 😳
Then suddenly I won a small jackpot... 🤑
The machine said "call attendant" - Red light flashing @ the top. 😨
I actually thought I had done something to the machine... 🤷

In reality -- 8)
I'm an internet junkie 💻 and thought I would try a microgaming console from Piggs Peak based in Swaziland...
After my taste of slots @ the land casino. 🍸

😲 Unfortunately... sometime later they were been banned from my country... 👎

Which was quite annoying as I just discovered the joys of online gaming... 😉
So -- I did a google search and wow 😂 -- 😀 - I found a whole bunch of other very very cool online gaming software.

My conclusion is -- 😍 - I love online gaming... much better than land casinos... 🧛
Its in the comfort of your own home. 👧 You dont get hit on by drunk people 🥀 or have the eyes waiting for you to leave the machine your playing on.... or just when you think your getting somewhere.

You get that person suddenly sitting next to you... 😈

Not playing anything!!!! ... 🤢 And smells like they've havent left the casino for days... Trying to bum money off u... ✋

So I must say i definitely prefer online gaming... 👍

I have been to a land casino only once, but it's enough for me to say that I will never go there again. I definitely prefer online casinos. I don't have to spend time with strangers and inhale the smoke. And when I am at home I don't have to be ashamed that sometimes I don't know what to do and how to ask for help. When I play online I can always ask you guys and I know that nobody will laugh at me.

Since I'm new here I guess I should write about what brought me to online gambling 😉 It wasn't anything special, I had some luck on slot machines years ago, but didn’t have time to play a lot. But - some time ago my friend told me about online casinos. I already have the best years of my life behind me, so I wasn't really optimistic about the idea but I tried, and now I can't imagine playing in a normal casino. Comfortably, in my house - it's just the best 😂

That is a good point: hand sanitizer! I always bring mine to the land casinos. At least we don't have to handle so many coins anymore, lol, like the "old days," but I still am somewhat of a germaphobe, especially in the winter months. I have my little purse with my hand sanitizer always within reach when I am playing at the land casinos.
