New here. Detroit casino questions.

4 replies • Last post

I just joined today to ask some questions.

My wife just got transferred to Detroit. I work in the casino industry and was wondering if there are some suggestions about which casinos are the best to work at in the area. The casino I am at we keep our own tips, and I would like to continue doing that if possible. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Rob A.

Hey Rob. I'm actually from the suburbs of Detroit and can give you some decent advice.

I used to date a girl that worked at Greektown as a dealer and she seemed to like it. It's definitely the dumpiest of the three downtown, with MotorCity and MGM Grand being the two nicest. Things may have changed since I dated her, but I remember her telling me she got to keep all of her tips.

There's a Caesars in Windsor, but that's across the river in Canada, so you'd need to get a work permit for there, but I've heard that people make good wages.

If you have any questions about the area, feel free to ask me! 🙂

Thanks. I just want to keep my own, because my wage more than doubled when I was allowed. If you are good at what you do, and friendly, it can be very lucrative. Besides, the dealers have better attitudes when they are forced to earn their own money.

I'll be calling Greektown in the morning.

Awesome, let us know how it goes!

Greektown is in a sweet location, even though it's not the nicest casino. It is walking distance to Comerica Park (where the Tigers play) as well as Ford Field (where the Lions play), so they get a lot of foot traffic during those times.

Good luck to you!
