Tight, tight, tight!

21 replies • Last post

OMG, the land casinos, or should I say the UNREGULATED land casinos in Minnesota have gotten so tight that many loyal customers/players don't even want to go and try to enjoy playing anymore. I haven't stepped in one in over two years now. Why would I want to go spend hundreds, and not even be allowed to play a while on that when I can do a $25.00 match deposit in online casinos, have a better chance at withdrawal and AT LEAST be able to play for a while.

I do enjoy staying overnight at the casinos with the cheap rooms, because if on a losing streak there is at least other things to do, but even my best friend, who loves going to the lands with her hubby, is disgusted with how bad it has gotten around here.

Do many of you play land casinos, and have you had any luck where you live?

Have a wonderful weekend! Smile

Sorry to hear that they tightened so much Hope, but I think with the age you have less and less desire to go out to a casino and stay overnight anyway, it's quite the same here in Sofia as fas I know - pretty tight although I didn't been at one for years and it could it be not so bad - but I doubt really...

I don't play at land based places because they don't have any decent ones around here.

When I do go, I actually prefer to stay over night. If I just go for a quick visit, I feel too rushed, and as if I have to play all my favorites in the time allowed. When I stay overnight, I can go in the pool or hot tub, relax in my room, go out to eat, etc., and especially if I am on a losing streak, take a break. Rooms are usually free or $10 per night on Monday through Thursdays, so I can go during my summer break time. It's also nice to go down in the middle of the night when not as busy. However, the tight slot reports are making it less and less desirable, so I will probably not visit and stay overnight this summer. We will see. Smile

Yes, there are two casinos here called Grand Casinos, in the towns of Hinkley and Mille Lacs. Those are the two that give great offers for hotels and lots of promos, too. I used to get flyers every month, but since I don't go anymore, they don't like me anymore and quit sending. lol However, they had many give-aways like free purses, wreaths and hams at Christmas time, just a variety of gifts and trinkets and also specials for senior day. They are HUGE here, and they have plenty of money for the give-aways. The others don't promote that heavily and the hotels are expensive, so if I am going to stay overnight I always choose the Grand casinos. Still, all the purses in the world won't bring me there if they are so tight and believe me, people end up paying a lot for those "prizes" if they stay to gamble. haha Wink Smile

I agree with you sharpe, here such casinos are only in a spa type of resort facility, but nothing like hope said. Your story hope sounds great, so I understand why you would atay overnight.

Yes, they have two hotels and also little "chalets' you can rent at the Hinckley one. The Mille Lacs one is by a beautiful lake, called Mille Lacs Lake. Hinckley has a couple of bars and weekend bands and dancing. All of our casinos have concerts and comedians, different shows, some indoors and some outdoors. A lot of times, the bands are "older," but classic bands, too. For example, Kiss and Rod Stewart are coming up soon and some country singers/bands. I could go on and on, but I put a link here if you want to explore out of curiosity. They do anything and everything to draw people in, and they can certainly afford all they do!

Yes, they have some good concerts, sometimes. We have quite a few other casinos that have shows, too, but they don't have the promotional gifts or discounted rooms like the Grande Casinos do.

Well here we don't have anything like that at all. Hotels that have casinos aren't very approachable neither are they good and all the other land based ones are quite poor quality.

I was gonna say, that's too bad, but I guess, in a way, that is a good thing....for the pocketbook. lol

I see your point Hope but it's still a good thing to have that kind of a choice I think, who can't afford it shouldn't be there at first place, nothing wrong for me in a weekend full of booze, gambling and some music, but yeah it's usualy not a good thing for your pocket Smile

I have seen people wait in line at the cash machines for their paychecks to come in. And some seniors I see there on senior day look like they cannot afford it. Of course, they may be fooling me and have millions hiding in their freezers. Who knows? lol

When a person spends more than they can afford/loses it all, my brother calls that "the brick in the gut." More than one person has left the land casino with "the brick in the gut," I am sure. You are correct in saying, if it happens once and we learn from it, then okay. However, if we return and do it again then that is on us, right?

Here next to each dogdy and shady casino we have ATM and that's crazy how often people are running out of the casino to the ATM and back.

I knew a woman who would actually go there and BOUNCE a check hoping she would win enough to cover the check in a deposit the next day! Well, we all know how that turned out. People make poor decisions, sometimes, when it comes to gambling.

Oh and I forgot to mention that near to each casino there's also a pawn shop. Believe me, you wouldn't want to visit those places.
