I had a decent run at MGM Grand Detroit

10 replies • Last post

Yesterday I ventured down to Detroit as my wife wanted to watch our daughter's cheerleading competition. I dropped her off and headed to the MGM Grand Casino (I wasn't paying $15 to park and $20 to watch a 3 minute cheer routine). I actually ended up having a decent day, and I won $175 without putting any real money into the casino.

I had MGM Freeplay on my player's club card. I ended up going in and putting a dollar in the Big Bang Theory slot machine (which activates free play). A couple spins later I had $27 in cash that I withdrew. Knowing I still had a bunch of time to kill, I went over and played some video blackjack (awful rules but I needed a time killer). I played at that table for about an hour and walked away with $91 as my balance. Sensing my luck was about to run out, I ended up going to the deli area and ordering a Corned Turkey Reuben Sandwich, and figured I would just leave.

On my way out I decided to slide my card and saw I had another $10 in free play on my card! I ended up ducking into the smoke-free room and put the card in on a classic 3-reel machine that was $1 a payline. I bet $5 and won $5. I bet another $5 and won $5. On my third spin I bet $5 and ended up getting a double wild and hit for $84!

Needless to say I cashed out and left as soon as I could! I ended up donating the money to my daughter's upcoming cheer trip. She's heading to Dallas in May and I want her and her mom to not have to worry about cash.

Still, a pretty good day at the casino, eh?!?

Probably because they've had never gave you a NDB Wink It's the same here by the way, I didn't fancy playing most of them anyway, some look suspicious even from outside.

Here the land casinos are always finding ways to get you in their doors. There's an Indian casino about 45 minutes from us, and they give my neighbor a free night in their hotel every month because of his service in the US Navy.

MGM started giving out this free money every month, and other spots will give you money on your birthday, wedding anniversary, or any other time they're looking to bleed you dry a bit.
