My Grand Casino Story

5 replies • Last post

In Minnesota there are quite a few Indian casinos, and no state run casinos....yet.

Two of those casinos are called Grand Casinos, and there is one in Hinckley MN and one in Mille Lacs, MN.

I was recently on a "girlfriend trip" that my friend and I take each summer. Since this is her last year at her lake place (the owner died and developers are swooping in to put up houses on this beautiful lakeshore where they parked their motor home for many years now), we decided to spend one night at the casino and the rest of the time at the lake.

We usually go to Hinckley (I only go to land casinos three to four times per year), but Mille Lacs is closer to her lake place. We were there on a Tuesday, which we soon found out was "senior day," whereas Hinckley it is on Wednesdays. We soon discovered they tighten those slots up when those poor seniors arrive! Sad And basically all they give away free for them is a darn ice cream cone. lol Really?

Anyway, I did NOT do well, and I was with my friend who is so lucky I always say she is charmed and she didn't even win.

The next morning the slots seemed a little better At least you could play a while on your money. The night before you could not even do that, and I couldn't even do that with nickel poker (I can usually sit there all night!).

Well around here they always have commercials where people have written in with their "Grand Casino Story." Mine was not so good.

I did recover a bit the next morning when I played Pompeii which I had never played before, but they were paying out a little bit the night before, too. One woman had her machine over 300 but they also seemed to pay on 1.25 bets, and I am a 25 and 50 cent bettor. So I put in 20 bucks and I was going back and forth between 25 and 50 cents and I decided to hit the 1.25 just ONE time, and I hit five dolphins in a row (with no volcano, darn it, lol) for 100 bucks! I figured that was all I would recover so I took the money and ran.

My friend hit three rows of ladies on the wonderful Wicked Winnings and recovered one of her hundreds, too.

But all in all it was an expensive trip and that is my Grand Casino Story. Tongue

Thanks for sharing hope. Its sad that you'l have to find somewhere new to go for your trips.

Sounds like a good decision to cut and run once you hit the big win. Was it the same Pompeii game as this one?

I've seen the ol' Pompeii slot before, but I've never actually played it. Good to see you recorded a huge win though!

I really think I need to make a visit to the casino by me to see what the newest games are. Sometimes I stroll the floor just to see the slots. I enjoy that more than actually playing sometimes!

Same one, CL -Ed and when the bonus guy pops up it says, Vinni! so if it is on the first two reels it will say Vinni! Vinni! And you want the third one that says "Vinshee!" (spelled phonetically, lol) then you go to the bonus. But it drove me crazy hearing all those Vinni Vinnis with no Vinci, lol! I did get in the bonus a few times and it was decent. I had never played them before, and my friend says they have been around forever.

Its actually saying "Veni, vidi, vici" which is Julius Caesar for "I came, I saw, I conquered”.

But I do like the sound of Vinnies! I'm imagining a dude dressed like Fonzie or Joe Pesci in My Cousin Vinnie! lol

:LMBO! Yes, CL Ed - I had a totally blonde/senior moment, lol. We kept saying Vinny and the ladies from Wicked Winnings had gone to bed when they weren't showing up for us, as I was playing Pompei while my friend played the Wicked Winnings, lol
