Hi all,

I wonder why this thread is so empty ?

I usually do not bet on sports, but I'm a big fan of football! Which is your favorite football team ? I love Manchester United !

I have also been lucky enough to have seen a bunch of matches for someone my age and all over the world. I've been to Estadio Monumental in Buenos Aires, Camp Nou in Barcelona, Farul Stadium in Constanta (Romania), Stamford Bridge in London, Allianz Arena in Munich, the Olimpico in Rome, Partizan and Red Star stadiums in Belgrade, Nelson Mandela Bay stadium in Port Elizabeth, Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria, and Foxboro stadium in Massachusetts.

I would give best atmosphere to two: Serbia national team game at Red Star stadium and Champions League game at Camp Nou. Serbia - France in the qualifiers to the 2010 World Cup was out of this world; likewise, Barcelona - Roma was also something to behold. I remember when Rivaldo scored to tie up the game and the nice, drunk, Catalan fellow who did not speak a word of English (note: my Catalan is also non-existent) proceeded to hug me repeatedly.

While I'm at it, I'll say the best football from one team I've seen was Argentina against Uruguay in BA. One has to watch Messi live to see what he's all about.

I'll give most entertaining game to Lazio - Verona at the Olimpico. 5-3 and a Hernan Crespo hat trick. 8 goals in a Serie A match? Unheard of.

Worst atmosphere: Serbia - Estonia in Belgrade. Home fans turned on their own team. This loss also ended up ousting us from Euro 2012. Just horrible.

Nicest stadium: Allianz arena in Munich with Nelson Mandela Bay stadium a close second.

Worst game is a two way tie: Serbia - Ghana in pretoria. Awful football and awful result. Then Chelsea-Blackburn in London because it was a 0-0 tie.

Crappiest stadium: Partizan stadium in Belgrade.

Anyone else have any match attendance thoughts to share???

Oman? Did Australia march out its third stringers or something?

I wish. No it was a full strength team aside from one or two injuries which you always have. The good news is that they struggled through with a 1-0 away win over the mighty Thailand on Tuesday night which gets us through to the next round safely.

Allianz Arena is amazing. I saw Australia play Brazil there in the 2006 world cup. It looks like a giant glowing tyre at night.

Agree re seeing Messi live. You don't appreciate the speed he does things at until you see him at the game. He is so quick I reckon he could switch off the lights and jump into bed before its dark! I saw a great game at Camp Nou where Barca won 3-2 with the winner near the end. Eto'o scored 2 and Gudjohnsen I think it was got the winner.

When is the Euro draw? (hmm just looked it up: December 2) I would love to see a group of death. You know there is going to be one in this tournament as so many teams are evenly matched. And since they put both Poland and Ukraine into pot 1 it just makes it all the more dangerous.

I would love to see Sweden and Denmark in the same group. Do you remember when they played each other and a 2-2 draw would get them both through at the expense of Italy? And of course it got to 2-2 in the last minute. The Italians were crying, and everyone in the stadium at the Sweden-Denmark game was cheering with people holding up "2-2 = Nordic Victory" signs and stuff. From memory the whole of injury time was spent with neither team trying to win it, just passing it back and forth across the back four. Classic stuff!

Today my mighty Chelsea were held to a 1-1 draw with that powerhouse of English football known as Wigan! Just when it was starting to look up again for us Petr Cech gifts WIgan a points in the last 2 minutes of a game we had won. Yes I am angry and its half three in the morning!

Ed, please no mention of any recent games between Liverpool and Chelsea. Oh and would your lot like like Torres back? I think we'd accept 50p and a bag of crisps by now.

😂

Don't worry, you can console yourself that even though your club wasted a colossal £50m on Torres, Liverpool went right out and spunked £35m of it on Andy Carroll. Still, I guess £15m + Carroll is still worth more than Torres now! Maybe Chelsea should hire Benitez as he seemed to be the one who could get the best out of young Fernando. I'd have him back for 10m or so though. Its a shame he didn't stick around. He and Suarez could have been a deadly combination.

That certainly was a howler from Cech. I call him Scorpius after a character in the show Farscape. I googled and it looks like I am not the only one to notice the similarity. He has never been the same ever since he had half his skull kicked in.

Oh that is just too funny. I have no idea who this Scorpius fellow is but it looks like he could be Cech in 30 years time!

If Liverpool were offering 10 million quid for Torres I would personally drive him to Scouserland myself. That Suarez is some player - a dodgy little git no doubt - but still what a player. How did we or even Man Citeh miss out on signing him?

Well now Suarez is most likely out for 8 weeks in a very controversial decision for racially insulting Patrice Evra. In the end it sounds like his own honesty cost him. He admitted to saying "Negrito" which he claims is a term of endearment used in his country. No idea how true that is.

Interestingly Evra admitted instigating things by saying "Don't touch me Sudaco" which is apparently a derogatory term used by Europeans for South Americans. No-one heard either of them and TV replays showed nothing. Sounds like Suarez would have been smarter to just deny it (obviously it would have been smarter not to say it in the first place). I am left wondering why Evra isn't facing the same charge though.

Its all very childish and stupid, and reflects badly on both of them.
