Slot Machine Glitches

6 replies • Last post

Hiya CL Members,

Have you ever played a slot and had one of those rare moments that the machine keeps paying and paying. It seems to good to be true so what is our first thought? Is the machine broken, is there a computer glitch inside. Will someone come along and say we are sorry but we have to take back all your winnings due to a mechanical failure.

Like Louise Chavez who won the jackpot on a penny slot for 42.9 million only to be told “we are sorry it was a mistake”! Instead she was compensated with the $20 bill she placed in the machine, a free meal and a free room for the night. Hmm something tells me that didn’t sit to well with Ms. Chavez.

Just how do you think it’s determined that at that precise moment there was a so called “malfunction” of the slot. Why is it that it always seems to happen when a player wins mega bucks?

How come no one ever walks up to us and says “we are sorry you just lost $500 without a single bonus round. There was a slight malfunction and here is your money back!

Look up in the sky folks…….when you see pigs flying you know that day will come!

That's right Usne, this is something we'll never hear. After all, the casinos need to live on something. 😂

In general, I think the casinos that say "Sorry about your winnings, but they are void due to a system malfunction" are those we ought to avoid. No good casino will annul your big win just like that, and offer a miserable compensation for this. So those belong to Cat's blacklisted group. 😉

Haha you're dead right Usne ... no-one is ever going to come to you and say sorry it malfunctioned and you should have won but you didn't!

If anyone is wondering about Louise Chavez, here is our article about her from earlier this year:
Slot machine malfunction, player denied $42 million win

This article says that the top prize on the machine was clearly marked at $251,000. If true then clearly there was an error. But offering her a meal voucher and a room comp is an insult. They should have just apologised, paid her the maximum printed prize (assuming she would take it and not sue...?) and then switch the machine off and get it fixed.

So what would you do if it happened to you? Would you take the max prize if they offered it to you or would you try to sue for the malfunction amount? I think if the max prize was clearly marked then I would accept the max prize but I'm not American and I know y'all love to go to court!

😉

Always play it safe! Consult our list of rogue casinos and warnings before depositing at a new casino.

I wish I could remember the name of the online casino (it was the first time I played at that casino), but about 5 years ago, I was playing slots at 75 cents a spin but was receiving very large payouts. I played there for two days and cashed out close to $5000.00 or more. The casino let me keep the funds despite the fact that it was obvious that there was a glitch. 😀

That was a decent casino you ran into, Rodaaf! Personally, I'd take the max prize and go home satisfied, if they proved enough evidence of malfunction. I don't like courts (too much bureaucracy and time spent on something that may not even work out for you), so any big sum would definitely do the trick with me. Plus a free meal and a great room for the night. 😂

That would be sooo sad if that happened. imagine seeing the machine saying you had won $42,000,000!! and then they tell you its a mistake. i would be mighty angry but i guess if they had a sign with the max win then i would take it if they offered it to me. but just room and a meal? thats pathetic!

I had a slot machine glitch once while i was in Vegas. I was playing the Drifter slot and three symbols for the bonus round. The bonus round reward is free spins. I got to the very first spin when the machine locked and froze. I called over a slot host who ck'd out the machine and couldn't bring the bonus round back!

I was so darn mad. So the casino decides to compensate me with $5. Yesssssssssss 5 lousy stinking dollars! I wanted to say ya know what maybe you need this more than i do!

Needless to say i never played that slot again. But i did go back to that casino. How could i resist? With an Irish name like O'sheas i couldn't resist!
