What Do You Look For in a Online Casino?

13 replies • Last post

Hiya CL Members,

Deciding on what casino to play at can be a challenge. Some of the things that players look for before making their fist deposit are:

Deposit bonus promotions
How quick a casino pays out
Player comments at forums

When you are considering to make a deposit for the first time at a casino, what is the main thing you look for? If you had to choose just one from the list, what one would it be?

Financial stability and backing
Fast payment processing
Quality of software and games
Where the casino is licensed and/or regulated
Word of mouth from other players and trusted review sites

I might be biased here (hahah) but if I had to choose one it would be word of mouth. This could be overruled by some things though - I will not play at casinos run in Costa Rica or Belize for example.

Bonuses aren't a big deal for me any more since I kind of ran out of good ones to claim after years of "bonus whoring". I would rather play without a bonus these days.

Whenever I see an ad for a casino I haven't played at before, the first thing I do is check other people's experiences and reviews posted by some sites that proved to be trustworthy. The second thing I check is how good their processing is - if I hear that more than a couple people had issues with them, it's highly unlikely I'm gonna register and play there. And, of course, there are also software providers I prefer better than others.

But if I was to choose one parameter to rely on and judge a casino by, it would definitely be word-of-mouth. After all, if something good or bad happened to other people, why would I be an exception?

i usually search the search engines and look for a casino that shows up on all the sites on the first page...i figure if its good enough for them to be promoted everywhere they should be worth a 50$ try

It is hard to choose just one when we factor in all of those things. If i had to choose just one i would have to go with player experience. Unfortunately that can work against us too. Especially when someone is ticked off and wants to dirty the casinos name. To really make a good judgement call i like get several player opinions good or bad before i deposit.

Nicely said, Usne. When it comes to depositing in a casino I haven't played at, or don't know anyone who has, I do make sure I check out quite a few experiences others had in it, and only on an appreciated and trusted forum/site. I do this precisely for the reason Usne stated - to prevent myself from avoiding a perfectly good casino just because someone who lost some money there decided to rogue it. And this has always worked for me.

Besides, those sites usually have constantly updated lists of rogue casinos, so it's not difficult to leave those out when it comes to selecting a new casino to play at. Smile

The one casino i am in limbo about now that is getting a bad rap is Casino Titan. I hear a lot of players not happy. I am just not certain yet whether to take their word for it. I have held back due to a bad streak of luck.

They always did have a good reputation in the past. Let's hope the new management maintains that reputation, Would hate to see them on the rogue list.

Casino Titan was bought by the owners of WinPalace Casino a month or two back. We reviewed that one and found it to be fairly ordinary, especially since it is run out of Costa Rica which is a big red flag for us. I would be cautious about playing there Usne.

That is a shame!!! They were on my good list. I guess it really pays to pay attention to where they are licensed from. I am glad i asked that question! I never really put much stock in it before.

They also own Slots Jungle (RTG) and Mayflower Casino (TopGame). So you might want to mentally cross those off the list too!

I do know Slots Jungle had a shaky start when they first made their debut. It was tech issues and i for one had a problem getting started there. Being a lover of RTG casinos i was hoping to give them a shot.

I think i will lay low, thanks Ed.

Reputation is a big factor for me...which is why I'm glad members and staff of forums such as CasinoListings keeps us informed. I'm not much for bonuses but not against receiving and using them either but would lean more toward consistent, fast and reliable payouts. It feels good to know are getting paid and not have to chase for it.
