Lord of the Rings slot launching soon

9 replies • Last post

Just a heads up for those of you who don't read our news section, Microgaming is releasing a slot machine themed on the first Lord of the Rings movie - The Fellowship of the Ring - from a few years back. Ladbrokes sent us a couple of screenshots and it looks quite impressive. Interestingly the backgrounds behind the reels are supposed to be movie clips.

I read this news, and I have to repeat that I'm terribly excited about this slot. It looks just terrific! I'm probably gonna bite my nails until it's released Love . Do we have some specific dates, or so? It'd be great if the casinos would organize some LOTR-themed contests to draw more attention and promote the new slot. I bet that'd boost the traffic on this game!

No-one has announced any dates as of yet, but judging by the number of press releases and hype they are trying to build, it should not be long. I am sure there will be lots of promotions going on when this launches.

Also I do know they plan to eventually release two more slots based on the 2nd and 3rd movies in the trilogy in 2011.

Hiya Ed,

I received an email saying the release date will be Sept. 2nd. Here is a little preview of the game:

The game, which promises to be the largest launch this year, offers players 243 ways to win. The Lord of the Rings Characters will be one of the most graphically rich, innovative games to date.

In the online slot game, players follow the Hobbit "Frodo Baggins" as he sets out to ensure the destruction of the Dark Lord Sauron. The five reel online slot will have unrivaled game graphics and include beloved characters from the film such as Frodo, Aragom, Saruman and deadly Black Riders. Along with some film's ionic footage, featuring Ringwraiths during the attack of Weathertop, Balrog in the Mines of Moria and Uruk-hai in the Woods of Middle Earth.

The Lord of the Rings will be powered by Cinematic Spins - a software program that will allow movie clips to act as moving backgrounds behind the reels during spins. Win sequences and expanding wilds also make use Cinematic clips, instead of the traditional animated graphics.

Sounds awesome but i am slightly disappointed! Where is GOLLUM!!!! He is my favorite character and has a personality exactly like my little Chihuahua mix! Sweet as honey one minute and then the next he is a ferocious man eating flesh ankle biter the next!!

Ha yes I noticed that he was missing from the screenshots the other day. Surely he has to make an appearance in there somewhere. If not I have my own theory as to why not ... he's a little too close to a gambling addict with his relentless pursuit of the precious!

You're soooo right about the characters they picked, Usne! I was wondering about Smeagol as well, but also what about Gandalf? I cannot believe that they included Saruman, who is a side character, instead of Gandalf! :''(

Btw, I'll go to the casino and see if it's been launched. Will let you know asap if this news turns out to be true!

Everyone is issuing press releases claiming to have "launched" it. What they really mean is they have "announced" it.

I can confirm September 2 as the launch date, at least according to the people at Jackpot City it is. It should be the same date for all Microgaming casinos. We'll keep an eye out for any special deals or bonuses as they are announced.

Thanks a lot for such good news, Ed! I'll make sure I enter the date into my calender of events. Wink And if you manage to work out a special deal for us at this forum, it'd be great!
